anyone know of a good basic telemetry system WITH an voltage alarm feature besides the one from quanum (because i cant seem to find any!) preferably 2.4Ghz

I don't know anything about Quanum, but I'm buying the Eagle Tree OSD Pro in a few more days... My theory is that you could buy the Eagle Tree OSD (not the PRO version), and hook that up to a transmitter with the Eagle Tree Data Logger -- for about $100, you'd have everything you'd ever want.

ok the eagle tree one is pretty much not an option just because of price
and the zigbee what the heck am i supposed to do with just a rf module?

ya that site is where i found the system but if you look it says its outa stock
and i dont really need a how-high/fast system the main thing i need is lipo charge telemetry

You said 'good' telemetry, Eagletree is good.

xbee can interface with a PC and transmit anything you want, and it's pretty cheap. Just tap into your power bus and send the results home. Voila.

Spectra Pro 2.4GHz Module is compatible with Module Type Transmitters that use the same Futaba/Hitec module form factor such as:
Eclipse, Optic 6, Prism.
Futaba 5UAF, 5UAP, 7UAF,7UAFS, 7UAP,7UAPS, 7UHF,7UHFS, 7UHP,7UHPS
8UAF, 8UAFS, 8UAP, 8UAPS, 8UHF,8UHFS,8UHP, 8UHPS (8FGA, 8FGH are not supported because they are non-module radios)
9CA, 9CH, 9CAPS, 9CAFS, 9CHPS, 9CHFS
10CH, 10CA (10CAG or 10CHG are not supported because they are non module radios).
The JR compatible module is due for release very soon.

ok by good i mean a good BASIC setup
and as for the rf module i have no idea how to set that up without having to make my own circuit board as far as i can tell

and thanks for the info alan how hard is it to convert a mostly stock esky heli for an aurora 9 setup or you not know?

Depends upon which Esky heli.. The ones I have are the simple kind with a single block ESC/GYRO/RX and not really cost effective to change. However, if you have a top end unit similar to Trex 450 et al, please refer to

and all i really want it power telemetry right now dont really care about rpms or gps atm

Nothing against Eagle Tree systems, have one myself.. but it is now superceded.

The Hitec system does includes the voltage alarm system as a standard feature and it does not require the other add-ons, nor an Aurora TX.

@Mechcondrid -- that's exactly the beauty of the Eagle Tree system! RPMs and GPS (etcetera) is optional. The stock unit comes with the ability to measure volts, amps, watts, and mAh consumed (it's your fuel tank).

You don't have to hook up the camera at all. I'm only suggesting you buy the camera to get the TRANSMITTER and RECEIVER to get the data from the airplane to the ground. You can always hook up the camera later (if you feel like it), but it is not required in the system I'm suggesting.



@Alan (A.T.) -- I guess I'm missing something then. If you buy the $114.99 deal, it looks like you get two Hitec Optima 6 receivers, and something called a "HMA-24FI" (I don't know what that is) -- only two "gadgets". In order to make this work, he's going to need a transmitter, receiver, telemetry transmitter, and something to measure the data (like a voltage meter, current meter, watt meter, etcetera) -- that's at least four "gadgets". How can the telemetry system work with only two "gadgets"?

and i think it incorporates those four "gadgets" as you call them into the receiver and the additional module

The $60 price I quoted you earlier includes the camera, the transmitter, and the receiver (three seperate units). In my scenario, you just don't hook up the camera -- you hook the Eagle Tree OSD Text system directly to the transmitter, and leave the camera on the ground in the back of your car.

(Normally, the Eagle Tree OSD Text system would be installed between the camera and the transmitter. If you leave the camera out of the system, the OSD should overlay the data on top of a blank screen. BUT, now that I think about it, the Eagle Tree OSD may not overlay anything if it does not receive a signal from the camera. Hmmmm...)
