I love my MSComposite Swift II. Quite tough, fun. I bought it specifically for combat.

I have been looking at the Swift but would like to find a complete plug n play kit. But seems wings are pretty much all sold the same, the Assassin looks very similar too. Hoping the training on the Stryker will be good training for a wing.

Tried combat with a stryker a couple of times, and it was pretty ordinary. They break easy and don't fly well compared to planes like the S&B Komet. Still, they would be usefull for non-contact training though. Zagi's would be a little better again. The swift with a few reinforcing mods sound good, but my own combat planes were built with combat capabilities foremost. If you are not into scratchbuilding your own (and tape covered EPP is the most practical way) have a look at the all EPP gliders from Canterbury Sailplanes in New Zealand. Their tailless gliders and wings are great for combat, and adapt very easily for pusher motors. Plus the NZ dollar is weaker than the USD, and they have a list of factory seconds that are very inexpensive. Worth a look

I never got the swift and had sort of just let go of the idea of a combat wing but recently a few of us got together at the club and purchased the Superfly. I tested mine yesterday and what a fun little plane to fly. The build was easy, my first time building with foam and learned to use a lot of hot glue.
As far as flying it was great, quiet enough to take out as a park flyer, doesn't scream like the stryker or other wings and does loops so tight it just about kisses its own backside. I can't wait to get a dozen of these in the air for combat at our club. And if you go to the Superfly website watch the video of the guy flying it into a barbed wire fence several times to show how durable it is. SuperflyRC |
