UM P-51 Noise

So I binded my new PZ UM P-51 and noticed a weird noise. I opened it up and saw that the elevator servo was running with no control input. Is this normal? I followed all the steps according to the manual. Any suggestions?

Nevermind, I see it's just a normal sound it makes.

Usually it's the aileron servo that does this... but...

check to make sure the retaining 'snubber' on the end opposite the
gear is pretty tight to the servo housing. A little clearance is necessary,
but not much.

If it has too much, the servo will cycle a lot as it moves the shaft back and
forth instead of the worm nut that serves as the output actuator.
Since it's now taking longer to get any displacement of the nut, it gets
going faster- and thus overshoots further, causing it to then have to do the
same thing in reverse.

If it's too loose, the gear will lose engagement,
and the motor will just run.

Thanks Toby, I'll crack it back open and take a look. Also, has anyone used rare earth magnets to keep both halves of the fuselage together?

I just use tape- the upper half adds quite a bit of strength when it's firmly taped
in place.

And unless it's driving you nuts, I'd put the gear lash on the 'next time I have it apart...' list-
it's not that big a deal.

Phantom, instead of magnets may do like I did on my Champ.

My top is held to the bottom with three CF pins.
I glued an old left over GWS part into the rear bottom fuselage for a pin locator, and a CF pin to the top half to lock in the back.

Then in the middle and front I glued a piece of foam inside the top half.
Reassembled it. And took a sharpened piece of control rod through the side of the bottom fuse, the new foam, and out the other side. Used those holes for locators and glued in a piece of control rod tube in them for strength and to keep the foam from tearing. Two short pieces of small CF rod with a piece of the control rod tube glued to the end to make a stop, now go through the holes in the bird.

Adds almost nothing weight wise.

Keeps the halves nice and tight, and I can pop the two pins and remove the top in a couple of seconds. No need to worry out using tape and peeling off the paint now.
