Welcome to WattFlyer Chuck! Where are you from?
Yes, anything can fly at the Dust Bowl, planes, heli's, jets, and this year we may even have a place to fly indoors at night. (electric only indoors)
I fly only electric. I would say this event is 60% electric, and 40% fuel.
Most of the pilots, even the ones, that fly the big gas planes have one or two electric type park flyers.

I just got an email from my cousin Will Arnett. He does video production. He IS interested in doing professional video of the event.
The plan would be to have interviews etc like you would see on a newscast. And of course footage of the flying and models on display etc. Then have these for sale on dvd to help raise more $$ for MS.

He is looking into working out the scheduling now.

This in NO way would interfere with our regular still photographer David. Who has been doing a great job.

For the last two Fly Ins I have wanted to have a Flight sim up and running at the Fly In.
For various reasons that has not really worked out so well.
So I am going to put out a request. I want to try and have a permanent set up that will be used at all the Fly Ins and also have on hand for visitors to our field who would like to try out rc.

I cannot afford to buy one myself. So if a person or business would like to donate anything to help get this together it would be vary much appreciated!
Ideally we can end up with a transmitter type interface and a laptop to run it on.
If a business would be able to help us out their logo along with contact info can be on the lid of the laptop as well as the screen saver and desktop of the computer.

I want to stress this is NOT for me. But for the Fly In and events we hold at the airport.

Ok, I contacted over 200 shops, and R/C related businesses this weekend, that makes a total of 260. We should see some results in the next few weeks.
I'll send out another email to all of them in June, then a last ditch effort the first of August.
Of course if any of you pilots would like to donate anything, please do. We have lots of great builders out there, or if you just have anything that you are not flying or using anymore.

Really the main thing for me is the cause. And of course meeting new friends and seeing friends I already know.
And the planes are certainly cool!

As much as I would love to win something cool I likely won't be able to fly for a whole lot longer so other things are more important.
