Time to get ready for ODB3!

Ok so it is not at the fly in... But it is close! Only a couple of miles away in the town of Justice.
I had a meeting with the principle today. He is going to talk to the school board in late April at the next meeting. But he sees no problems at the moment.
So it is looking good for having this gym not only durring the fly in. But now and then before the fly in.
In one of the pictures you will see a person next to the door. She is 5'4" tall to give you an idea of the size.
Pics are taken with my phone so not the best. But hey you can see the place!
Thoughts are welcome.

The gym looks really nice. If We do get the gym, we need to find out how late at night can we fly. It would be nice to have it from 7 or 8 till 10 or 11pm.(I've been flying alot of indoor lately, and three hours is plenty) We also need to decide if we are flying indoors Friday night, Saturday night, or Both.

If We do fly indoors, every one needs to have, buy, or steal an Ember 2 plane. That's the most fun we have at our indoor events, is 10+ guys flying Embers in full contact Combat, and pylon racing. Sometimes we combine the two, and do figure eight pylons.

The Dust Bowl is looking good.
We should have 6-10 pilots from the Tulsa area, but I'm still shakin the trees, a few more might fall out.

I will know more about that as the time gets closer. And of course if we get permission to fly there before the event. We will get an idea of how late we can use it. Of course we will go with what ever they want us to as far as time of night we can use it.
Just getting to use it at all is a real privilege. And I of course do not want to push it too far and lose it.

Where is a good place to buy an Ember 2? I aint got no local hobby shop down here in the sticks.
Also one of them P-47s would go nice with my T-28 and F-86.

There is an optometrist in town that I have been going to.
What does this have to do with the fly in you ask?

Well a couple of things. 1st he is manufacturing sunglasses aimed at rc flyiers.
They will be high def and with the tinting aimed at the enviroment we encounter when flying.
He will have samples at the fly in. People can try them out in a real world flying situation.
Next he is also planning on opening a hobby shop. And has already bought a building. If that is open and running by the fly in then he will be there with that too.
I am talking to him about the shop on a regular basis and may be able to help him with that.
So that will make a hobby shop close by during the fly in each year.
Not a bad thing at all.

Does your optometrist need a field rep/real world R/C flight tester to test and promote his sunglasses? I'm your man. Just have him send me a dozen or so pair, and I'll get the ball rollin.

I had planed on coming, but I have to be away from home two weekends in April, and one weekend in May already. I'm not sure if I can make it, but I will try.

I would appreciate if people would post what they plan on bringing. After all it is a "pot Luck" BBQ!
And keep in mind we do not have to end at any certain time.
I would like to say that anyone who is coming to this and also the Dust Bowl And needs to or wants to store planes or equipment till the main fly in can do so at our home.

I want to open up the design of the logo for this years Shirts and ( maybe jackets and hats) the person whose design is chosen with get one each of what we end up making. If we do shirts and jacket they would also have their name on them.
Art work will need to be in vectored format to be submitted to the people who make these for us.
So lets get creative!

I talked to Todd Syssa from Syssa Aircraft Performance LLC and he said they would be shipping the gasoline engine to me for their fly in donation with in the next few days. They had been waiting on some ignition parts for it.
I will be sure to post pictures of it when it arrives.

I was just thinking... and if someone has a good set up for airborne video and would be willing to do some video from above of the fly in it would be much appreciated!
We are hoping to have dvds available after the fly in of the event. And that would make a great addition!

I'm hoping to build an FPV Tricopter soon, so that wouldn't be a bad setup for that.

Sounds like it would be great for it to me.
If you are able to make it to our get together we are having on the 14th of next month and have it ready it would be a great time and place to try it out.
And then you would have plenty of time to make any adjustments or fine tuning before the Dust Bowl fly in in September.
