Oklahoma Dust Bowl 3 September 2011The purpose of this forum is to promote the Oklahoma Dust Bowl Fly In for MS research.
The ODB3 Fly In is used to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and raise money to help find a cure. ODB staff also introduce new people to the hobby and the great people in it.
Oklahoma Dust Bowl Fly In for MS Research
Presented by Hobby King!
I was approached a short time ago by hobbyking.com and they said they would like to be the title sponsor of the fly in.
They are as excited as we are about the event. And want to help us grow the event and make it bigger and better.
There is a LOT more news that goes along with this. So stay tuned in the coming days for more details!
Yup sure did! And besides all the prizes they are donating they are doing much much more to promote the event.
I have been talking to them almost daily and it is looking really great! They are really excited about the fly in and finding a cure for MS.
I had sent them two emails about the event, back in March, but I got an auto reply, basically saying that they couldn't donate.
The Donation letters did have all the links to the event forums on Wattflyer, RCG, and a link to the event photos, so maybe they took a look after all.
However it happened, I'm glad it did.
Wouldn't it be cool, to have an event in a few years the size of SEFF, right here in our own front yard. All the big name vendors, and pilots would come.
We do need a big event in the middle of the country. We have lots of little ones, but no really big ones.
Wes, do we have an idea yet, of what HK is doing, and donating, and do they need us to do anything to help them out?
We need to take care of them right, so we can secure their involvement in years to come.
I'm so exited about this HobbyKing news.
They are planning on putting us on their website and other media to promote the event.
They are also donating prizes. I told them not to worry about having too many prizes compared to how many show up. That there will be plenty of people show up when word spread that they are going to be involved in a big way.
Don my contact says he is hand picking the prizes they send. Their budget for the event is in the thousands of $$. I won't specify the exact amount because we are still working out some of the fine detail.
You will be able to talk to hobby king at the event. Yup they are going to be there. There will be plenty of product from them. Banner etc too.
Brett when I know the date he is flying in I will get with you about meeting to pick him up.
I agree they need to be treated right! After all this needs to be good for them too. And make sense for it to continue.
They are wanting to help raise cash for MS too and not just make money.
They are not coming to sell. They are coming to help. All the product they are bringing is for the raffles.
With that said if they decided to come and sell I would not be against it.
They are planning on really stepping up and helping a lot with the fly in.
I will say this. For anyone debating about coming or not..... Well you will wish you had if you don't!
I am working on a dedicated site for the fly in. Here is the link.
I have just started so there is not too much there yet. But I am still working on it so hopefully I can make it look presentable soon.
As soon as I have enough to pay the yearly fee I will get it a registered domain of it's own.
Just letting you know, in your picture gallery with the OK Dust Bowl flyer, "proffits" only has one "f". That's the only thing that stuck out to me, and maybe on the "Donations" tab, put a list of stuff that has already been donated maybe?
I will check the spelling again and correct it. My hands shake at times so it is easy to hit the same key more then one time.
There is no way I could list all on the flyer if that is where you mean. I have a stack of boxes that is still growing all the time.
Not on the flyer, but on the website, at the top of the page where it has a tab for "Donations" where you can donate money via Paypal, maybe make a list of sponsors and stuff that's been donated by those sponsors on that same page? Just thought it might be a good idea.
Ok I have a question for those who are going to be at the event.
Besides BBQ from Rib Town.. What other food (if any) would you like to have at the fly in?
I was told that a local place is interested in bringing home made Tamales to the event.
Does that appeal?
Oh Daylight Doughnuts is giving us goodies for Saturday Morning for the pilots!
