Default Sunrise EP 40" Pocket Pattern Plane

Just got a new 40" EPO foam Pocket Pattern Plane at work. Interesting-looks like a baby Integral. Sold one to a customer and he promised to weigh it out and give me a report. Box says it should weigh in @ 27oz but we're guessing in around 19-21oz with a Scorpion 2215-1127 powering it. He's going to fly it with 1320 3s pack first then try a 2200mah pack for windier days. Looks quite good for $65! Can you say Park Pattern Practice Plane 3 times fast?

2 flight reports so far. My bud Bill got one and is reporting good pattern flight characteristics and decent performance on a motor he had laying around. I think he's repowering now with a MicroDan 2510-1300kv motor for a more hot setup. Says it flies well on both 1320's and 2200 packs. Had a little push towards the gear but needed some CG work to make sure it wasn't a CG issue before adding mixing/thrust angle trim. Another customer got 2 after his first one bit the dirt. Also reports nice stable pattern flight. So far so good.

I just finished my Sunrise and with a 2200 MAH it weighs 23 OZ. I have not flown yet, but the ARF foamie has very good quality. Approx 300sq in wing area with 40 in wing span.

Bought the Sunrise as my first RC Aircraft!!
Bit of a big step into the hobby, but it's been fun. Stacked the first one (knew I shouldn't be flying in gusty conditions, but was so keen to start), and second one going great guns. Good fun.
Without the battery 20oz, with a 2200mah 3-cell - 26oz. Can't quite accelerate vertically with a 1022kva dodgy hk motor.

Might need to do some firewall mods/reinforcing if using a hot motor. My bud Bill has put a 32 amp MicroDan in his (2oz motor!) and has plenty of power. Here's my friend Kyles Sunrise with a few suggested mods. He also reports excellent flight characteristics.

I sold the first 4 we had in about 2 days! This is batch #2. There's a pink decalled version too if we run out of black. Don't need the stickers if you want to paint it anyway. All white parts except for canopy.

Default Sunrise

Graves shows the Sunrisr out of stock. Any ideas on where to find one at a good price?

I purcashed mine at thewingsmaker.com EP (Pre-assembled Combo). for $139 complete except for receiver and battery. It flies very well for a light weight / foamie pattern style design. This is not a beginners plane but I would recommend it for its quality vs cost. Good luck.

What benefit is the little T canard on the top of the plane?

Self proclaimed dictator of the Flite Test fan club.

cannilizers have the effect of giving the rudder much more authority. Acts as a pivot of sorts. I an osmose 70 that I purchased brand new. It came with the cannilizer; however, I never installed it until I had about 20 flights on the plane. The reason I never installed it was because I did not think it would offer any "real" benefit, and I also thought it was to easy to break the fragile little thing off the plane. Once I installed the cannilizer, the difference was amazing. Knife edge loops and other manuvers requiring lots of rudder were now accomplished with the addition of the cannilizer.

The T-can was devised by Christophe Paysant LaRue(8 Time World Pattern Champ) to help guide the airflow over the canopy hump smoothly over the tail feathers. He came up with them after working on some bipe designs and figured a smaller fin and wing behind the canopy would straighten out the bumpy air created by the canopy. And yes, it has a side benefit of increased yaw capability. We messed around with them a few years ago on another pattern/3D design and it woiuld do the sweetest inverted flat turns among other moves.
