Japanese, Chinese, or American Made?

As I read through threads related to outrunner motors, I frequently find specification comments like "bearings from Japan", or heavy duty magnets from Japan.

Even HK brags a little about some motors having additional benefits from Japanese products.

The bulk of the outrunner population "seems" to orginate in China, yet Japanese parts are frequently tagged as premium extras.

What if any complete outrunner motors are made in Japan that are available in the U.S.? Does the U.S. have any premium motors comparable in quality to our Japanese counterpart?

NEU Motors are a great powerful motor, if you can Afford them I know i cant I wish the USA had MFG of reasonable priced motors, I prefer to buy US made Products.

I ran a search for "Brushless Motors" in DIYtrade (link here) and found no manufacturers from Japan. DIYtrade is a tool to find manufacturers from outside the United States.

Alibaba, is another similar tool. Wiht Alibaba you can cut a deal directly with a Chinese manufacturer for a large quantity purchase.

Try it your self. Perhaps you can find something.

Sadly, there are only a small handful of non-chinese made motors.

Look at the 'made in the USA' vendor/mfg list:

Thanks, good information. I'm not opposed to Chinese motors, some have good specs. It was evident that Japanese parts were desired, but few if any Japanese motors are available.

Noobs are taxed with trying to uderstand specs well enough to categorize "Cheapest" from "Cheap" and on to "Best" for flying.

I would rather like to categorize best "Value" motors for my use.

I think that is really something. I noticed Castle Creations notes that some of thier parts originate in other countries and the finished product is assembled in the U.S.A.

I think quality rc parts can come from all over the world however, standardization in production seems lacking in some organizations who sell to unfortunate noobies.

I look for ISO 9000 standards at the production level when shopping, I wonder what other "quality" standards apply to electronics for radio control. Environmental standards are good too. I think a testing and certification standard for electric motors would be excellent...
