Default Ebay word to the people!

It's becoming more apparent that customers like me are having a hard time getting a good deal on Ebay! --- I thought your are basically trying to rip off or get the seller to lose money and not try to compete and out bid EACH OTHER! Please stop that! And let's work as a team and not show who has deeper pockets, are you feelin me? Just ranting BTW hehe

Well I'm pretty sure I understand all the words you're using. It's just a shame that the sentences you put them in don't make any sense .

"I thought your are basically trying to rip off or get the seller to lose money"

He said he wants to make the seller lose money! OMG Then says if you or I outbid him it isn't fair!

If u keep bidding bud above the street price and win the bid you end up losing and get ripped off. Which one are you?

Nice glad the mods are up not working and deleting my stuff.z

Are you saying that some people are continuing to bid above the 'Buy Now' price?
Would there be a point to doing that? To have to wait until the bidding ends and still pay the same seems absurd.
Or perhaps your idea is that we all discuss together who gets what on a rota basis so the price stays low?... assuming that everyone who flies models is on this forum and agrees to co-operate. You are welcome to try that if you like - sounds like brain damage for the organiser though - frustration guaranteed!

Nice try - but no cigar!

The 2nd post he wrote seems to have changed from his 1st, now it seems he is saying if you drive the price up you pay too much. BUT that is not what the 1st said. I sometimes write a bit strange after too many martini's. Hope I can say that without getting in trouble with the moderators.

Most stuff on Ebay is questionable when it comes to R/C gear, especially Lipo's. Bargains are there to be had, but I usually find better prices and backup from dedicated online R/C stores. BTW, it's really petty to make fun of someones command of the the English language, especially considering what you Yanks have done to it. If someone had learned you to talk proper like us Aussies, you might have some Kredibility.....

I have no problem with ebay LiPo's ... I have no problem with most gear I buy on ebay.

But the one thing I do is either only buy via Buy it Now or use Goofbay to 'snipe' the bid at last seconds.

I always check general street / online pricing as well before setting my bid max ... or clicking Buy it Now.

But it is true that many people get into 'bidding frenzy' and price gets higher than street value ! But of course that's what sellers and ebay rely on. Last thing I ever would use is the ebay bidding system ..... that is just plain stupid and does drive the price up.

Hi Solentlife, I have only bought 6 lipo's off ebay and 5 were junk. 3 rx's were rubbish as well. The edf units were not worth the postage to send them back ( really cheap brittle plastic crap). I don't bother with them at all any more, as I can buy less expensive and better quality elsewhere. Pleased to hear you have done well from ebay, but many others have not been so fortunate. Cheers

Guys and Gals:
I think what is being missed here is that eBay is an AUCTION site. Being an Auctioneer I know that means selling to the highest bidder. Granted there are a lot of vendors who abuse the auction format and are not just trying to get rid of extra stuff. There have been people who have made millions on eBay but there are also many regular people on there just getting rid of extra stuff. You have to abide and listen to the buyer beware biline. There are some good deals on eBay but you really have to know what you are buying and who you are buying it from.

Ebay is like any other store out there. It is the buyers job to be educated in the item they are bidding on, buying, or considering to bid/buy.
I'm one of those guys that has made mondo piles of cash via ebay, so I'll tell you it isnt as easy as you may think,

BUT...

Let me tell you NO seller is going to complain when a bidding war starts.

Value, is set by the buyer. They tell you what it is worth, simply by bidding. I dont profess to know the top value of my items, I allow the bidders to decide.

bidding wars on ebay are fun! the buy now price was $50 and i and another bidder were up to $75 ........and i won the bid at $85...woooohoooo!what a looser the other bidder was...lol......

funny thing was his name was almost identical to the sellers.

i'm bidding right now for a esc 3amp for $65.......i think i'm going to win again......

Yup and when I buy on ebay I look around on the web for prices of the item I am bidding on. I have found items that it was cheaper to buy from the source other times after researching prices it was cheaper to buy on ebay as long as the shipping and price of the item was still less than buying else where.
It is funny to watch a item sell way over what it is worth makes me wonder about the folks that are bidding, and I am not talking a one of a kind or antique. Just your everyday massed produced items.
So being a educated consumer allows me to buy a little bit more with my money.

I find deals on there all the time.

This week I got a brand new 4ch AM 72mhz receiver with crystal for my old Attack 4 at $16.99 shipped. At Tower, it's near 40-50 bucks plus 7 for the crystal plus shipping. Radio still works excellent, I'll keep using it in parkflyers.

Hanging scale for my planes less than $4 shipped. Keychain flight camera under 7 bucks shipped. Set of old books you can't find anywhere, $13.

I guess you just have to know how to search for obscure stuff and then dig for a bit.

Anyone that gets into a bidding war and pays above retail shipped is just foolish.

As for me, I won't buy ANY RC stuff from Ebay. ZMakes you wonder why they are selling it. Closest I came was buying thirty two A123 cells direct from China, with a fixed price. They worked out OK.

I've purchased three Tektronix oscilloscopes on Ebay, one with a money back guarentee, a second identical to the first that was for parts only. (Got it for $50. Took one evening to get it to working just fine), and my best one, a Tek 2236 for $200, also with a money back guarentee.)

IMHO, if it doesn't have a "Buy it now" I don't buy it.

it certainly is not what it used to be. More of a chinese online store.
but you have to watch and some deals do come through there. and when no one localy wants to buy it, then you have to sell it elseware.

i just got a discontinued f4 that you couldn't have found else ware...

but you have to do your homework....or the sellers can get you
