Default NASCAR 2011 Let's follow the races.

Well they'll be coming in two by two at 206 mph, by all accounts this weekend, although NASCAR are going to try and stop it by overheating the engines !
Daytona is all nice and smooth now after last years debacle and the quickest way around is to bump draft in pairs, how will this affect one of the best races of the year ?
Jnr is on pole 10 years after Dad died at this race, can he win it for the fans ?
And I still can't watch the race on cable TV here in the UK ! Some things never change .

Paul.

Default NASCAR 2011 Let's follow the races.

I will start a new thread for NASCAR racing in 2011. No contest this year, but lets just talk about the races. Support your favorite driver. Tell us why he will or won't win this week.

I just know everyone will agree with me on my pick for the 2011 NASCAR champion. Of course I will pick my guy Jimmy Johnson. There is no reason he won't win the sixth championship in a row.

OK he did have to really come through in the last races to get the title, but he was newly wed. Now his family is growing and he has to bring home the bacon to be able to raise little JJJ (Jimmy Johnson Junior).

So, let the discussion begin.

How about Junior winning the pole at Daytona. Think he will win the race? It will be a new kind of racing at Daytona this year, with the two car drafts running 206 mph in the straights. Think what they would be running without restrictor plates.

Gonna take a while to get used to the new sponsors on the cars.

Let the racing begin.

Well I've tried to keep up with the news over here, it's only really come to life after the shootout last week and the pole day. The tandom drafting was big last year but it seems they are not so happy with it this year after the amount of laps the guys were doing together last week. So how will the teams stop their cars overheating with the new radiator restrictions, it will be interesting for sure.

I hae absolutely no idea if anybody is going to be able to fight JJ this year, cause he is a legend full stop !

I'm gonna keep a close eye on the twin races coming up soon, to see who's performing before committing to a winner on Sunday !

Paul.

It looked kinda funny watching them run in pairs like that in the bud shootout.Like they were velcroed together.Theres no way the drivers can watch whats going on in front of them & behind them at the same time.Sounds like a recipe for major carnage this weekend to me.
Should be a great race to watch though

I think we will see a preview of the 500 Thursday night in the qualifiers. Carnage may be an understatement.

That's a scary thought, with the extra speed the cars just may fly that bit higher when pushed sideways.. I hope the fences can keep 'em in .

Robbie Gordon caused the wreck. Sometimes I think he does that stuff on purpose. Nobody can be that stupid. I don't know anyone else who has caused more wrecks that Robbie Gordon.

Any time there was a reck in the day, ol' Joe was in the middle of it!

I know it is too late for this race, but it might help in the future. This link lets you have a 14 day free trial of race view and then you have to pay for the service.

It has been a really interesting race and it is still anybody's race with 15 laps to go.

Can you believe that 20 year old Trevor Bayne won NASCAR's biggest race in his first time at Daytona and only his second race in the Sprint Cup.

This might be a very interesting year for racing.

Trevor Bayne... from KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE!!! my hometown.

I think I have a new favorite driver. Prayed with his team over the radio before the race started and gave Glory to God before anything else when he got out of the car.

Who says Nice guys finish last?!

Very cool that a guy who just turned 20, won. I am happy for the Wood Brothers. It has been a long time for them. I am also happy for my boy Carl Edwards, 2nd place is a nice way to start the year.

Well if JJ could not win the race, then I am glad it was Jeff Gordon. Pretty good race with a lot of close racing.
