Default Great Planes Escapade 61

Here are photos of my latest electric. So far I like it much better than it's little brother the Escapade 40.

Thanks Hank I hope it lives up to your expectations. The smaller one was a lot of fun but it had to land very fast. This one seens a lot better at slowing down for landing. Again, Thanks for the kind remarks.

Thanks Gramps. It's an ARF And well designed as electric or nitro. Here's a link.

Nice plane! I was looking at the smaller one a while back but the control surfaces were not pre-attached. This one is. As I'm not a very good builder, this one looks great.

Watt goes up, will come down...

All the control surfaces on the smaller Escapade come pre-hinged. It is a very simple assembly overall. Download the manual from Tower and check it out. This is certainly not one to be afraid of building.

Any reason why I should not buy this plane? I already have the smaller Escapade and I really like it. I'm looking for a home for my Turnigy 50-65 380kv motor, 80A ESC and 6s5000mAh lipos that I pulled from a 60" Cap (sold).

I must have a dozen or so flights on mine now. I can't think of any reason not to buy one. Mine has the Rimfire 80 in it and I fly it with a 6 cell 5000mah battery.

Is it pretty easy to fit a 6s5000 in the hatch? I was looking at a Pulse XT60 and from what I've read on other forums it's a pain to get that large of a battery in there.

The Blue lipo 5000mah is no problem. The G Force 5000mah is slightly thicker??? Had to remove about 1/8 of lite ply. The Rhino 4900 mah is no problen as it is longer but thinner than the others.

12 minutes! I can't fly sport models that long. I rarely go over 3500 mAh packs and save a bit of weight and fly for 6-7 mins.

I get to blame part of that on TX - you can't stand in the sun for 12 minutes without melting here.

Hi Mike, Well I time all of my flights. I sport fly and use full power only once in a while. I had a 12 minute flight late this afternoon. Ill charge the battery tomorrow and report the mah's in. The battery is a G Force 6 cell 5000mah with 15 flights on it. And I was born in Miami, raised in Tampa, and spent my working life in Jacksonville. The sun doesn't bother me.

I flew the Escapade 61 late this afternoon. Flew the same way that I allways fly. Flew for exactly 12 minutes and landed. Checked battery voltage. 23.46 and after resting 30 minutes 23.52. Then charged on a Cellpro 10. Mah added to full charge 1499. Hope this helps.

Wow, only 1499ma putback; that's good for at least three or four mixed 7-8 min flights between charges

I too am only good for the shorter flights
