Default Thrust Vector HOME BREW

Recently, I came across the new Hyperion Enigma. A new 3D ship that has Thrust Vectoring. Check out my post with video: http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60992

Well the Thrust Vector device is hidden by the cowl, but I went to bed dreaming about it... I woke up this morning, and after 15 minutes with off the shelf parts, this is what I came up with...

The worlds first 2 Dog RC EPP Yak 54 with THRUST VECTORING!

Super cheap, I used landing gear nose blocks. Off the shelf less than $5.00 for a pair of packs. Simple attachment at the motor base, add a servo, mix it with rudder and PRESTO!

Great idea funny how great ideas come at night when you are tossing and turnig trying to think of a solution to a new idea.
Nitro make sure you Post up a video of your flight. Did you beef up the fuselage cause from that video I watched looks like it will have to be rigid, and no flex. That looks like a lot of force on the fuse, and way to fun.

Theres really not much force, and the gyroscopic effect of the prop (should I say I have a revolutionary new invention?) holds it pretty smoothly.

Its windy today, and if the weather is good, I'll take it up tomorrow. After watching that Hyperion video, I'm confident!

(p.s. video is up)

That sounds like a revolutionary prop idea to me.

Nitro I sometimes forget that I am still learning I should know better that you would have it covered.

Makes me wonder about the motor setup they have for the kites. That would give the added bonus of up and down along with the left and right. That would really throw some more wild action into the flight.

What size servo are you using to move this? Is a micro big enough? What a cool idea!

Just watched the video that is a great setup flip a toggle and you get the effect of high and low rates with the engine. You the man to lead the revolution.

Here is one I have on an old beater Skycart. Wouldn't lift off as there wasn't enough positive incidence on the body. The HXT 500 servo for the motor is programmed to the elevator, it has no problem lifting off. Things that weren't expected. Loops, inside and outside in its own length. Great indoor plane. Fun little plane. Like the old saying, Necessity is the mother of invention.

I just got back from a very fun day at the field today. Flying this new airplane is so darn much fun, with a whole new dimension to it that it did not have before.

Honestly guys, if you have any 3D ship, foamie or not, give this a try. Its removable if you dont like it, but it does not fly any differently if you dont rudder it.

Pinwheels are EFFORTLESS! Simply get on the knife edge, and pin it with full throttle and full rudder... watch the fun!

I have to do some work on that 540 edge from the buy you put together might try it on that. looks like it is a blast to fly with this setup.
The edge has gotten a little portly from repairesshould be a good airframe to try this out on. I can't beat it up any more than it has been all ready.

Looks like that could be very cool on a pusher too, like an F-22! Very simple, clean. Thanks for sharing it.

As I post this, I am on one of my 2x per year Hawaii visits, and this time I brought the hardware to put the Thrust Vectoring onto Dad's AirfoilZ Edge 540.

In a word, BODACIOUS! The AirfoilZ is lighter than the 2 Dog, (and a bit more fragile) so the Vectoring works amazingly. Go to vertical, pin the throttle, crank the rudder and watch the spinning pinwheel. Super fun.
