I am not sure I completely understand your problem but the BEC can plug into any open space on the receiver. If the BEC is already connected to channel 3 along with the ESC it should still work just like it was with the original receiver.

That would be true with most recievers however the futaba R617FS will only accept battery power on channel seven, or at least mine will only accept power on channel seven.

K, I just checked 2 of my 617 receivers and they both worked with the BEC plugged into any slot.
I would think now the ESC is opto coupled and requires an alternate power source to work (BEC). We have a Ice 120HV that is that way. If you just plug in the ESC nothing has power and it will not arm until you plug in the BEC. Mike Pics might help if you can take some. |

Yup - you can power those rx's on any channel. Its the same with virtually any receiver on the market. They all feed power to the servos on all the channels, so they can take it in the same way.
Even rx's that have dedicated "power" input slots can be fed on any channel. |
