Default Corona Receiver antenna problem

I have a brand new Corona RP4S1 receiver whose antenna inadvertently got caught in the propeller on an electric foamie I built (don't ask!). The antenna was severed in 4 places and the last section went missing. My questions are- 1) can this be repaired with regular stranded wire? 2) is wire gauge important? and 3) what is the approximate length of this antenna?
Thanks for the read and any and all responses.

1) can this be repaired with regular stranded wire?
Yes.

2) is wire gauge important?
No. The important factor is the length. You can even connect (solder) pieces together to get the desired length; for example, see your collapsible Tx antenna.

3) what is the approximate length of this antenna?
For 72MHz, the length is about 41 inches for a 1/4 wave antenna. However, some Rx include extra circuitry to use a shorter antenna. If anyone can provide the length of the original antenna for this particular Rx, that would be the best length for the replacement antenna.
Usually the length is not too critical for 72MHz. You could simply install a replacement antenna wire, and then do the range check set forth in the instructions for your Rx. If it passes, your all set.
