Default PK T28 and steerable nosewheel

I want to "fix" the front gear so it won't steer anymore... (tired of that screw always failing)

Will the pure power of the air moving past the rudder be enough to "steer" the plane on take offs and landings? I know I won't be able to taxi and turn but I just don't have any other solutions...

Basically the 'eyelit' which the gear inserts keeps cracking in half so I'm just going to pour gorilla glue all over it and "fix" the gear in place

my flying buddy did that. dont' expect to taxi around much but it works well enough for takeoff/landing.
