Yes the very simple way supported by your TX is to use a timer. This is very safe, keeps your equipment protected and works well.

If you want in-flight monitoring of voltage you need to move up to a telemetry system, DX8 or Hitec Aurora 9 or a few others. They will tell you the voltage in-flight.

They do make voltage alarms for in-flight as well.

But again, the timer works well, is cheap, and is just a good habit to get into.

Thanks for your help. Is it an accessory that you buy with the system or is it built in within the TX .

Where do they sell a timer?

it's a setting available on the dx6i. I don't have a dx6i so I don't know how to activate it, but I'm sure someone else will help you out.

If the Tx doesn't have a built-in timer, you can use a kitchen timer, or parking timer; there are even voice timers.

I've been using a digital kitchen count down/count up timer for years. Two clothes pins epoxied to the back of the timer works well. Mine has 1/2 inch high digits. Found it at Radio Shack on line, retail does not have it. don't know if RS on line still has it though.

Problem with the timers in my DX7 transmitter, they are to hard to see while flying the model.

Hi Denny
I use one similiar
2 1/2 by 2 1/2 one AAA Battery that lasts for quite a long time, good visibilty of the LCD digits in most lighting conditions, a very loud buzzer that i can easily hear over the sound of most of my rc vehicles and has a belt hook for your clothing that doubles as a stand
I found this one at the local sporting goods shop
Cost was under $10
Take care dear friend
Yours Hank

Or you could use this http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=10343 you will also need the transmitter portion located here http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=10709. First one I have very little success. However i ordered another transmitter and now use it all the time on video missions.

I have timer in the Tx ... I flick the trainer switch and it starts to count down from the setting I give it ... mines at 7mins. Loud beeper when it gets to zero.
I also have this :

bought for about $2 incl. shipping on ebay ... works on button cell - probably lasts about 1 year .... clips to Tx handle ... counts UP or Down as you wish ....

My way of deciding time setting ... I ground run my model at full throttle till I detect a fall off of rpm ... or as I do now - use a Wattmeter and when it starts to fall away showing that pack is significantly drained - I have timed it ... I use that time as I know with throttling etc. while flying - I will have MORE actual time available, meaning I can land safely when beeper goes of. EG : my ME109 on larger pack I use will give me 9+mins ... so wattmeter showed a decline at 7 ... timer is set to 7.
