Default Servo hookup for dual elev

Hi, I'm setting up my new Katana SR, and while its my first sport plane, its also my first plane with dual elev servos. Now I am stumped. How should I wire those with my DX7/AR7000? does the extra elev go to aux or gear? Or could i use an AR500 and a Y harness for elev?

Also is there a specific tx setup for using dual elev servos?

There is no pre-programed mix in the DX7. Use Pmix one or two and it will slave trim for you.

Then you will need a reversed servo to work properly.

The other option is to you use reversing Y connector with no programing.

OR - you can use two different brand servo. Futaba and Hitec/JR normal rotation is opposite.

You can reverse it using the p-mix and a spare channel so you don't need a reversed servo.

Although I'm DX7 clueless, do you really have to use a reverser when mixing if you need the servo go to the opposite direction? You cant use something like a -100% setting to get a reversed servo?

Dang, if thats the case thats pretty basic stuff they omitted.
I use reversed mixing in so many places I'm actually pretty shocked you cant do it.

Correct if you use a separate channel you can use Pmix 1-2 and reverse only that slave channel.

Thanks, guys. I'm still not sure which servo connects to which output on my rx. The arf manual shows all ports of a 7 ch rx being used but doesnt name them.

I guess this is basic stuff but I'm still new to airplanes and I dont seem to grasp it yet.

One elevator servo goes to elevator the other to an unused channel. Then you go into the sofware - go to P-Mix and "slave" that channel (wherever you plugged in the other elevator lets say ch7) to elevator (100% both directions). Also reverse one channel so both elevator halves go the same/correct direction.

I wonder if mix 5-6 are the slaves for trim. They might be based on that doc since they recommend those mixes. You do want trim slaved for dual elevators.

Unless you are hurting for space around the servo, you can simply go to the other side of the servo arm and not have to worry about reversing one of them. That will reverse it for you. On my 9303 I haven't have much luck with using the gear channel and mixing them for duel elevators, so I used the AUX channel and it works great.

I've got three models with two elevator servos on my DX7 transmitters and AR7000 receivers.

You need to use the Aux 1 or Aux2 channels on your AR7000 receiver. Then use either mix 5 or mix 6 for mixing the elevator stick with the Aux 1 (or 2) channels. Don't use the gear function, the gear toggle switch will still be active.

Don't use mixes 1,2,3 or 4, they don't include the trim function on the elevator stick.

Using the various trim, sub trims, and servo travel adjustments, you can match the two elevator surfaces to an exact match.
