Default Need inpt,Would like to build a Marines tribute P-51 Mustang D.HELP!

Ok, so who of us have tought of showing not only pride in our great country but the men and woman behind it definding every square inch of it and our freedoms we so greatly enjoy.(such as flying foamies)But just havent found a way to show our appriciation to the armed forces of past and current?I think I would personally love to puild a foamie P-51 mustang D and paint and decal it to tribute of the armed forces,My main reasoning for Marines is that my father is a retired Marine who served for our country so Proudly in the Korean war and was one of only so very few of his Regiment to return.Im thinking painting the fusalage all dark Marines colored green and decals that are of WW2 era,But that reflect mostly in marines.Any thoughts?

Steven,

Nice idea but why a Mustang? If your dad was in Korea, and his regiment was shot up that badly, I'll bet he was at the Chosin Resevoir and saw plenty of Marine Corsairs helping to hold back half a million Chinese soldiers so the 1st Marine Division could make it back to the sea to be withdrawn.

Look up Corsair Korea, and Chosin Resevoir...I'm sure you will find some great paint schemes.

Just a thought from an old Marine.

Regards,

Hankg

Well thanks first off for your help, and semper fi.I didnt know that the F4-U`s were still active then.My dad doesnt ever hardly talk about it much so I try not to bring it up, I originally was going to do a P-51 bcuz its one of our favorite WW2 fighters. But now that you brought that up thats also one of his favorite and has a picture of him next to it after it crashed when he was in the crash crew shortly after.Im going to name the plane after him and my grandpa who both served, itll be named the Howeling Harold.Any spacific ideas for decals? Thanks for your service to our country, alot of people have endless gratitude no matter what form or what devision it was for.

Steven,

http://www.scuttlebuttsmallchow.com/stocks6.html

Check out this article...there are many pages so take your time. If in fact your dad was there, I can understand why he doesn't speak of the experience.
Are you looking to build a model that you can fly or are you looking for a display model?

Decals here...many more than these.

Excellent! Interesting article on the Corsair you're going to build. Hope you will post
pictures when you are finished. If you are ever interested in building a profile model
that uses a 75-100 watt outrunner for power, I have two good plans you can have.

Good luck on the project.

Regards,

Hankg
