Default CMPro PT-19

I just picked up this PT-19 from nitroplanes.

http://www.nitroplanes.com/cmp076-fa...-pt19-kit.html

I couldn't find a manual online so I'm looking for hobbyking motor suggestions. I'm looking at either

TR 35-42D 1000kv Brushless Outrunner eq: AXi 2820
or
TR 35-48-A 1100kv Brushless Outrunner Eq: AXi 2826

Any others that might work better?

The PT-19 states it has a 63" ws.

I got one delivered Friday 13/08/2010. It looks great. Wings and tail parts are mounted and waiting for power and electronic parts. This should help the manual problem.

Thanks, I got mine on Friday the 6th of August. The manual really wasn't a help as far as motor and prop selection go. I was surprised to see built up wings on a plane this size. Unfortunately they were out of stock of the scale oleo struts when I ordered mine. What electronics are you going with? I ordered this stuff from HobbyKing and should be delivered tomorrow.

TGY AerodriveXp SK Series 42-40 750Kv / 600W
TURNIGY Sentry 60amp Speed Controller
HXT 6.9kg / 39.2g / .16sec Twin bearing servo

I got a watt meter so I'll try it with an APC 12x6 prop and see how it goes.

Motor Headsuprc 3548-09 550watt peak 11X5.5 Thin Electric prop
Battery 4cell 2200mah HobbyPartz Maybe 2 batteries after the first few flights.
ESC HobbyPartz 40 amp cont. 60 peak
BEC Headsuprc 3 Amp
T PRO MG996 servos
All of which will start coming in Tuesday. It is too hot here for me to fly. I also want more time on my Trainer, Hangar 9 Alpha 40, before I fly the PT-19. So I suspect it will be mid Sept. before I fly it. All the specs indicate it will fly like a trainer. With no servos and no power train I get 1.56 KG with less than 1 KG left to add. When you fly please let me know what you think. I want enough power to do a loop from a level start.

For only 63", this thing takes up a lot of space

The wings are now hinged.

It definitely needs some scale struts.

It's seems, according to the manual, that only one aileron servo is used.

I went ahead and used two.

I have gone with one, square in the middle. A big 55G, Digital, Metal gear one. I think we both have overkill.;

I thought about going with one but I would have had to shave some of that plywood that's visible b/wn the two servos.

It all fits nice and there's plenty of clearance for the servo arms and the elevator and aileron servos that mount just above them.

The covering has now been cut from the horizontal stab and is ready for epoxy.

Epoxied in place.

Elevator has been hinged.

Elevator/rudder servos mounted in the tray.

Motor mounted.

Test fit with the cowl.

Test fit with wood prop

It wasn't lining up correctly so I used some 1/4" spacers, that let the cowl fit much better.

It only came with two of the triangular shaped balsa braces so I improvised with a couple popsicle sticks.

The cowl is now in place.

I got 2.05 KG with no battery and with about a 900 watt motor. I am going to fly at first with a 200 Gram Battery.
Harold
I also have 3 55 Gram servos. T-Pro Digtal metal gears MG996 .

Ready for the maiden flight this afternoon!

I kept getting a strange noise from the motor when using my two new 4s 5000mah batteries. It worked just fine with my old 4s 4000mah battery though...what do you guys think?

Here's a vid of the weird noises:

Strange sounds are never a good sign. I had a motor fail last month after making strange sounds.

Have you flown your's yet? How's the build coming along?

Mine flew great but it seems the battery died a little too soon, ~7 min approx. I'm used to getting four 5-minute flights on my Sig Seniorita on the same battery. I'm not sure if that was b/c the motor seems to be messed up or if it was just sucking down the juice fast. I may have over propped so as soon as I get the motor sorted out I'll try a 12x7.

It is still too hot for me. I have been away from flying so long now I am going to start off with my HawkSky first the some Alpha flights before the PT-19. How did the PT-19 fly compared to the Seniorita?

The Seniorita is a basic trainer, flat bottom high wing, super stable and will *almost* land itself. The PT-19 seems to be like an advanced trainer (low semi-symmetrical wing). It flew very nice while it was in the air. I took it up high to kill the throttle and see how it would stall and it just didn't. It kept slowing down and slowing down and I kept expecting it to drop a wing or the nose and it finally was moving so slow it seemed like it was going to just stop in the air before it stalled. It's a floater.

I hoped for that kind of performance from the PT-19 but I am still new to all this. I am trying to work my way up to the novice level. In April I crashed a Seniorita on my second flight with it.
