Default Parkzone UM Mosquito- review

hey guys, to start off im brand new to the wattflyer community but not to the hobby! (and yes i did check other posts for the mossie) well, sort of brand new you can say. i just started flying RC planes again since i last flew 10 years ago, with the sig kadet lt-40 as my airframe and a low-wing gas plane whose name i forgot, but i gave both planes to my local flying club when i stopped flying. as the title says i just picked up my first RC aircraft since the last time i flew, the pz um mosquito bnf. man does this thing fly. i wish i can say i "never skipped a beat", but the first few flights showed that i was a little rusty!

otherwise i have to say this plane is very forgiving, has a lot of power, and handles like a bigger frame. the mossie has beautiful flight characteristics and agility to match. trimming isn't that much of a hassle, i haven't had any problems with achieving straight and level flight (or as straight and level as you can with a plane this size). takeoffs are short but for a more scale look sometimes i apply 75-50 % power and use up as much runway and rotate to a slow, climbing turn. landings are fast and for a small plane it has decent glide slope, but thats ok when you have 2 engines those engines give the mosquito A LOT of power. the e-flite 3.7v 250mah 20C single-cell lipo battery it comes with gives you about 8 minutes of flight time and maybe more if you are conservative with the throttle, and i just took it up today with the tenergy 3.7v 500mah 15C single cell and got about a solid 15 minutes.

well, thought i'd review the mossie since it's quite new, definitely get this airplane, so much fun!

i love this plane so much, i ordered a second one and am going to mod the first one to make it look like the USAAF photo reconnaissance mosquito. both are very airworthy and look great. i'll put up pictures soon!

Thanks for the review and welcome aboard(back?). Aren't things so much simpler than 10 yrs ago? (Well, RC things...)

thanks! yes it is, for one my flight box is filled with much less stuff (probably because i'm flying electric and not gas so no glow plug igniters, fuel, fuel pump, etc.), and there are so much more warbirds on the market! after i get a little more of my flying skills back i will go for a fast single-engine warbird or the ju 88 kit as my third airframe.

Welcome back to the flight world. Sounds like you have had a good experience with the mossie. Isn't it amazing how much smaller things are now days, The mossie weighs less than engine you were usuing in the Kadet. Can't wait to see your USAF version.

The mossie probably weighs less than the tail section of the Kadet! I'm gonna have to be extra careful with the paint so as not to put on too much weight when I turn one of my mossies into this:

More propeller, mean MORE POWER!
