I saw this on the Colbert Report a while back. Awesome technology, be ever better when the price comes down. Perfect for making smaller RC parts.

3D printers have been around for a number of years. They get better all the time.

One reason you dont hear about them much is $$$$. The printers are insanely expensive and the finished parts are too.

Thats probably a $1000+ crescent wrench

I think I need a signature.

I still wonder just how the external scanning process of that wrench detected the internal parts of that wrench.

Im curious about that too.

A few years ago the scan only measured the external dimensions. All the internals had to be entered by hand using 3D cad. Thats part of why it was so expensive.

I dont know if that s still true or if the scanners are that much better.

X-ray? Ultra sound? Magnetic resonance? Microwave radar? Star Trek Tri-Corders? All of the above?

I think I need a signature.

Hi
I saw this technology in use in the episode "Hitlers Stealth fighter"
They use it to replicate some of the parts for the build
Very interesting documentary btw
Take care

Is it the printer that is revolutionary or is it the scanner? Seems to me if you got a good scan a CNC machine would work awesome.
