Question Futaba 6EX - 2.4 binding problem

Just got a new Futaba 6EX 2.4 ghz radio w/o reveiver.

I already have a 7C using both Futaba R617FS 7c rx and the Frsky Orange 8c rx. The 7c binds without difficulty.

The 6EX will not bind. Either the Futaba or Frsky rx's apparently read the signal but do not bind - they sit and flash.

Throttle stick is all the way down, there is zero trim and the Tx batteries are fully charged and the tx signal light is green.

There really is not a significant amout of space devoted in the manual on binding. Turn the Tx on plug in rx battery while holding bind pin on the Frsky and same except pressing the bind button on the R617FS for one second.

Anyone else experience trouble with the 6EX binding?

I thought it might be because there was 1 and 2 extra channels but the 7C binds to the 8 channel Frsky just fine.

I am confused - as usual.

FYI

The answer is that the R617FS 7 channel receiver is listed as a receiver for the 6EX FASST 2.4 ghz in both a Futaba 6EX promotional literature and in the T7C FASST 2.4 ghz radio manual on page 8. Obviously only the first 6 channels are available to the 6EX.

Therefore the 6EX not able to bind indicates a problem with the radio and the supplier will be asked to help resolve the issue.

Thought other owners of the Futaba 6EX might be interested.

I have had no trouble binding my 6EX to the 607 or 617 receivers. As I recall I just hold the button until the LED turns green. It has been a while but I think that is how I bind them.

Mike

P.S. My 6EX came with the 607 receiver.

Same here I run both of those RX's on my 6ex and the T7C and both the 607 and 617 bind no problems.
A year a go probably more their was a issue with the 617 binding to the radio I believe the newer batch had a green dot next to the binding hole. Someone posted this information up. I think they had a recall on them again I am not 100% sure. Go to Futaba site and search the recall list they post up.

I purchased the new 6EX on Ebay from Rc Hobby Experts for $78 which I thought was a good deal. I followed the Ebay procedure in reporting the problem to the supplier on Friday night. This morning I received a reply offering to exchange it or send it to Futaba. He asked what the exact light pattern when I had attempted the bind.

Since memory has not been my strong point for a while I reinstalled the R617FS and attempted to initiate a bind to see what the fault blinking pattern was I had seen before. It flashed red once and went solid green and then the esc armed.

Why it bound today and not before is a mystery but that is what happened. I also retried binding to my FrSky Orange Fasst compatible rx's. It worked.

I have no explanation and since I have been using a 7C also I knew the very simple bind procedure. I have never experienced any problem with my 7C radio.

Your comments were appreciated and confirmed what I had thought.

Glad you have them bound and the problem is solved!

On a different note I have bought a few things from that EBAY seller very nice to deal with.
