Default How Old Are You -In Years

I've seen this type of thread done a bunch of times with limited age groups. One that tops out at 45+ .

So lets see if we can get a good showing of the average age of folks posting on WF and those involved in RC flying.

I'd like to break it down by model preference; balsa, foam, scale, etc, but I'm not sure I can get that detailed in the poll so I'll have to stick with just the age brackets.

Feel free to post your preferences below. I have an idea already though, just curious if I'm right.

Thanks,

Frank

I like the profile foamies right now. If I didn't crash so much I would try other things but for now I am happy keeping it simple. I have a scratch built balsa Wasp from RCM plans that I have built the wing and fuze but stopped there after I totalled my Four Star 60.

Just turned 49. I like the balsa planes, preferably scale. Nothing against foam though. I have a few of them.

I will be 45 in June though. I prefer and admire the balsa planes but I still continue to play with foam!!!! I don't know why. Maybe it is because foam is the the prefered product for experimenting and experimental planes in Balsa(and time spent) could end up as toothpicks. LOL> I want to make that big move to Balsa/stick kits soon!! Scott.

Well I am 27 and been into rc for 24 years. I used to fly all balsa made Glow planes, anywhere from 20ish size to 60ish size.

now I fly mostly 3D foamy planes profile ones 36 inch windspan's or so, and I fly homemade delta type ones made out of blue foam.
and also fly a Blade cp Heli
and just got a build up foam plane Typhoon.

also have a electric and a Nitro RC Trucks.

yes I do a little of it all.

I'll be 46 this July 4th. I prefer balsa warbirds and other planes that really look like planes.

I'll be 44 next month. May 4th.

I like multi engine anything! 777, C-130, P-38.

I have a mix of foam and balsa ARF's. Have only been in this wonderful hobby for about 2 1/2 years.

Scott,

It made the list here. The SQuiRT can definitely take anything you can throw at it.

Frank

PS I like balsa, but some foam is OK too. (I'm 42)

I just turned 60. Started a year ago christmas with a Harbor Freight Yellow Bee, got a Firebird Freedom for my 59th last year, retired it at the end of the summer and started building foamies. So far have an F-15 and F-4. For now enjoy the building process as much as flying.

Great setup on the poll, Frank.

I fly a really mixed bag of models. I have a 15 gram AUW Okie Bipe (foam) for slow indoor flying as well as other foam models. I also have several balsa models. I am not really involved in scale models. Do some limited free flight stuff.

I am 63 and have not found a LHS or on line vendor that gives senior citizen discounts. Oh well.

I'm 75 but the oldest member of the Woodland Aeromodelers Club, in Downers Grove is 92 and still active!!!! He has 21 kit planes ready to fly with 12 kits ready to be built. NO ARF's!!!
Two of the next oldest are 87 and 86, all of them knew Carl Goldberg when they belonged to the Chicago Aeronuts. I joined that club in the mid 60's and met Carl also. A great guy!!!!!
Happy Flying,
Don

54 here. Fly everything. Been flying 28 years. The most fun and most hours are or my SX3 EPP plane. Just finished up my third one the first two lasted about 3 years this one should last a lot longer (less crashes) Learning 3D was really hard on the first two planes.

Takeoffs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Have been flying for about 45 years now.

Not much room to build here in my condo in Florida, but I do enjoy creating a balsa plane. There is nothing like the feeling one gets when your creation takes off .
