Has anyone removed the orange decals from the Champ's wings and replaced them with more scale-looking registration numbers? If so, how do you remove the decals and where would you get say 2.0-2.5-inch numbers as replacements?

This is an old post, but someone may still want to know;
I simply picked up a corner of the "G-FLYER" decal, with a #11 Exacto blade, & peeled it off. I then created 1-5/16 inch high "NC2185E", using the USAF "Amarillo" font, working with CorelDraw, to get the layout, size, & color I wanted. I then printed that, on BelDecal paper.
The big mistake I made was that I failed to over-coat the finished decal with clear Krylon spray, so when I float-flew the Champ, the water affected the decals, as can be seen in the pictures.

Thanks Lancer. Mine was the original post. I got up enough courage to peel the stock decal off just like you did. I replaced it with a registratration numbers on the wings and each side of the rudder (again like you did). I got my decals from Callie Graphics and have since used her for other decals. She does excellent work and the price is right. She has a website and lives in a suburb of Albuquerque NM.
