Default IR emitter

Any IR emitter builders playing with the new 2 watts or building anything using code programs?

Some of the new TVs have remotes hitting 100'+ with no more then a little black dot in the plastic case and 3volts?
Any info in this area?

Thanks for the link Chellie
It is related to RC aircraft but I'm using giant scale gas and not electric so I did not add much info

I just tried my $30 garage door opener and it worked from at least 150 feet away.

Hoping to hear some feedback from other WF members, although this topic may be a little too technical. But you never know, there may be a few others out there involved.

I've played with all sorts of IR stuff over the years but I can't work out what information you want. I don't understand either "new 2 watts" or "code programs" and I can't even imagine what IR may have to do with secret projects related to "giant scale gas".

Almost any range indoors is easy but getting decent range outside in bright sunlight isn't. Which is why almost all remote controls for anything use RF these days.

Its a simple way to do combat. I use infra-red to make parts fall off the other plane without it crashing. it can also be fun with 2 pilots on each plane. one to fly the plane with exterior lights and the other pilot using FPV. "live video feed from the plane.
Its complicated without knowing all the parts needed.
I just need to know if anyone anyone knows more then I do. anything over a 100' is more then I know lol.
