Default Pecked to Death

Here is a pic of my little Parkzone T-28 Micro...which I lost in the upper level of a tall pine 2 weeks ago. Kept my eye on it waiting for the winds to pick up and blow it down. Today...I noticed it was no longer at the upper branches so I went looking for it....found it just 12 feet off the ground and recovered the bird. Well...seems like the local birds had some attitude and pecked it to death. At least I can salvage it for parts (maybe would have been better lost)!

That's repairable. Looks like it would fly as-is!

Ouch
Take a run to your local hardware store, and find some of that "Lite Spackle" stuff. Stuff I used is "Ace Lightweight spackling compound". Its 10 years old, but found similar stuff at Ace a month ago or so. If this stuff is a little thick, just put a drop or three of water on a small amount of spackle stuff and mix it in.

Use it to fill in the holes, and let it dry for 24/48 hours, depending on the size of the holes. It helps to wet down the surface of the foam with a wet Q-Tip before putting the spackle on. Put several layers on for those big holes.

After drying, that stuff is about the same as foam, but probably not as strong. If strength is required, after its fully dry, hit it with a few drops of super thin foam safe CA. That transforms the spackle to something much more solid.

This was used on one of my Giant Scale electrics after it landed in a plowed field, and pretty much busted up the model. It was used to fill in the big holes in the foam under the canopy. Now you can't even tell whats foam, whats spackle.

Hope this helps.

Another filler I use on foam.
In a small paper cup, mix a little water into white gorilla glue.
It will start to foam up, then spread it on with a throw away stick.
next day sand to shape, quite strong

We've got tons of squirrels here; you're welcome to as many as you want. Last Fall I opened the garage door and one jumped from the rafters to the top of my head. Clawed the hell out of my scalp. I used to think squirrels were picturesque; now I know they are just scalp shredding monsters, plotting to victimize little old men............

Maybe I could feed them model airplanes to get even.

Yeah
Back in the old farm days when I was growing up, we treated those squirrels like rats. They could do just as much damage. We had some squirrels chew their way through a wood shingle roof on a grainery. We lost several thousand bushels of grain when it got all wet.

Even better is to put blue panters tape over it and that will force it to expand in other directions. peel the tape when it is still at the rubbery stage and you will have much less sanding. Usually 20-40 minutes after applying. We've been doing this for gluing EPP flat foamies together and it forces the glue into the foam and gives invisible joints. And yes, let it fully dry for a day before trying to sand it

One of our local guys stuck a second wing on it to make it a biplane and we call it the T-56. it actually flies pretty well and we all break up when it goes by
