Default Battery connector preference?

Just curious, I have used Deans style in the past but I have also used the EC3 type.
I am just getting back into this, what are you using?

Sermos/Anderson power poles. They rock and can be crimped.

Small stuff Deans (small ones)

Smaller stuff JST

Now I had never thought is using the Anderson PP. I have them too and have for a number of years, at least the 30 amp variety.
I used them for my ham radio hobby that I am now out of but I have several sets left that I got from Powerwerx~ http://www.powerwerx.com/anderson-po...owerpole-sets/
Maybe I will just start using them although I am certainly not afraid to solder as i have years of experience at it.
But you are correct, the main reason I went with Anderson PP was that they were quick and came apart easy for quick disconnects.
I will assume that Sermos is a new name attached to them? Maybe a buyout. I hope that they don't change the quality of them.

They are sold under both names not sure why. Quality is excellent. I generally get them from Powerwerx.

OK, is Sermons the supplier that you use I assume.
I tried Mouser, which is another good supplier for electronics stuff that I have used, but they don't carry the Anderson PP products.
For me it does not make much difference as Powerwerx is quick to ship and close to me.
I am just setting up again and I may go with all PP in my setup.
Thanks.

Wow, I just checked my supplies and I still have a new bag of 30 Anderson 30 amp connectors here.
I guess I am set for connectors and just did't know it.

Yup Mouser does carry the Anderson Power Pole connectors, but unless you order a big bunch of them from Mouser, Powerwerx has matching prices. Powerwrex also has a very good crimper for these connectors for about $40. FYI, commercial duty crimpers for these connectors are five or ten times that $40.

From what I can guess, these connectors are all made by Amp. Take a look:

That's interesting. I was looking at the invoice that came with that bag I bought from PowerWerx and I just bought them 4 months back.
At that time I called Mouser and talked to a rep and ask them as I could not find PP in their massive catalog online.
Normally their reps are very good even helping people that don't know what they want. I guess I got a newbie that did not know what a PP was.
I am retired electronics and I am pretty good at searching the catalog but sometimes I need help too.

Sermos used to resell APPs but has not been in business for some time now.

If you called them "PPs" instead of Anderson Power Poles (or even APPs) it's no wonder the rep couldn't find them .

Anyway they're what I use too...I like crimped connections.

No, I referred to them as Anderson PPs. That's the only name I ever knew for them..
I was rather surprised they did not carry them, or so he said.
Like I said, a newbie.
But like anything else, you cannot start out knowing all the suppliers and terms.

There are clone Power poles out there ... caution! They are NOT sold under 2 names to the best of my knowledge. As you may or may not know, Anderson PP are great, you can even disconnect them with one hand!

I did not know about them until I got my ham ticket back some 11 years ago I guess. I heard about them and ordered some a few years back and I was sold on them.
All I ever bought was Anderson PPs. I never knew until recently that there were clones.

I purchased a hundred pins for these connectors several years ago direct from www.mouser.com. These pins had pure silver plating on them, and the contacts miked 0.034 inches thick.

Now, even Mouser has the same connectors with 0.026 inch thick pins. Been looking all over the place for the originals, but apparently no one makes them anymore.

My stock is now down to about 50 of these pins, will hoard them till they're gone, then use the Powerwrex (0.026) pins just recently purchased.
