Just picked up a
West Wings Hunter kit on FleaBay for a bargain price. This is an old school balsa kit that was originally designed for NiCd batteries but I'm planning on bringing it bang up to date. After a bit of research and pricing up a few options I'm inclined toward the HET 6904 fan with the HET 2W-20 inrunner and a 4 cell LiPo. This should give me 750-800W which is well over double what the plane was originally designed for and it should come in quite a bit lighter, about 1.0 - 1.1kg. Just shows how technology has moved on in the e-power world
I've done EDF's before but only micro freeflight stuff, this should be interesting.
Anyone got any recommendations for servos? The model was designed for aileron and elevator but I'm planning on squeezing a rudder servo in there too. I'm thinking 6- 9g servos? Something with quite fast response and good centering, and reliable because they may not be easily accessible once the model is built; but hopefully not costing a fortune
