I have DX8 radio and AR8000 receiver. each aileron has its own servo elevator has left and right servo Rudder is a single servo How would I go about setting up flaperon and a crow mix to a switch I am open to suggestions. Currently I have a mix for top ail flaps but thats using up all 6 mixes. Im sure there has to be an easier way. Thanks! |

Crow is going to be challenging to program on a bipe.
Normally crow is when the ailerons go UP while the flaps go DOWN. This assumes outboard ailerons and inboard flaps - which most bipes do not have. I suppose you could try to make the top ailerons go up and the bottom ailerons go down, but if the wings have any stagger or un-equal sweep, that could get harry with pitch changes. I dont have any idea if the DX8 has enough mixes to do that. You would need another 4 free mixes I think. Normal Crow mixing probably wont work. Its also sometimes not available for power models. On second thought... you micht try setting it up as Crow first - then add mixes to get the ailerons to all go the correct directions. Might take one or even two less mixes. You may need to change the model 'type' to glider from power. If you do that, be prepared for other things to change. On my Futaba, there are several type of glider options available. You will want one with a 4 servo wing option if thats available. |

Let me give you a couple more tips.
Flaperons should be a lot easier than crow. Set up one wing with normal ailerons and activate the flaperon mix. Get that adjusted to where you like it. Then add 2 mixes to link the top and bottom servos on each side. You probably wont have trims carry over to the lower wing, but maybe they will. For crow, start like above - set one wing up with normal ailerons. Then look in your manual to see how the Crow mix is expecting the flaps to be set up and plug them into the appropriate channels and go from there. Hope that at least gets you started. I think your radio is going to be your limiting factor though - I doubt you have enough mixes to do what you want. |

Doubt it can be done with the DX8. I know it can't be done on a 9303 - but is easy on a 12X

they way I have it now not enuogh mixes. I have 6 avail mixes.
right now : top left aileron is in AIL top right is AUX 1 Bottom Left is Aux 2 Bottom Right is Aux 3 Elevator 1 is in ELE Elevator 2 is in gear MIx 1 is tying the two elevators together Mix 2 is tying the top right and left together MIx 3 is tying bottom left and top left together Mix 4 is tying bottom right to bottom left Mix 5 is able to assign top LEFT AIL to down on a switch Mix 6 is able to Assign top RIGHT AIL to down on a switch need 2 more mixes to be able to raise the other 2 AIL on switch. someone suggested setting wing mode to 2 flap where top 2 AIL would be normal AIL and bottom 2 would be flap mode then adding 2 mixes to make them Flaperon. and then use last 4 mixes for crow on switch might work if I was able to chain the two elevators together with a Y harness not sure. Just got back from flying and the setup above dont work because I dont have a extra mix to add elevator adjustment to counter act the lift I get when I set top two down. |

A pair of Hyperion digitals and programmer will likely run you $80 or less total. Well under that $1400 mark

Update i just acheived crow mix.
Set wing type to dual aileron dual flap 2 mixes to make the flaps act like ailerons 3 mixes to make the crow 2 up 2 down I was hoping for a bonus flap mix also but for some reason when I set flaps on then use the switch only 1 aileron moves. figure that one out later I got the crow I was looking for ! thanks for the brain storm lots of good input |
