Default In The Middle Of A Blue Funk

It seems nothing I do lately on my planes is working out like I wanted them too. It's like everytime I touch is a snafu. I totally trashed the tail feathers on an E-Starter while installing hinges, dropped one of my radios and busted the rudder stick. Also my wife has been sick and had to take medical leave. If I have upset anybody and they have put a hex on me, here is a blanket apology. "I'm Sorry" I'm having problems desiding what my next project will be. I also took a 3 month break while my back healed from a procedure that was done on it. I'm sick of all the meds I have to take. I'm just having a hard time getting back into the swing. I know it will pass, but it's a bummer right now.

Nothing worse than being in the funk Johnny.
A saying I use to hate but have learned to like is "this to shall pass" just never passes fast enough.
Hang tight and hope you, and the wife get on the fast track to health, and your build mojo comes back.

Sometimes it all seems to gang up on you at once. Endurance is sometimes our only option - give your self credit for that at least

narrow is the place to land...wide is the space to crash....choose the narrow way!

Jonny ,hang in there bunky it will get better. My boss and me have built custom homes here in IL for 20 years and now there is very little work to keep our trades going let alone us . Our new saying around here is( at least no one has shot at us today ) so you can see what its like. Keep plugging away and dont quit and soon it will get better. I hope your wife is ok and hang in there. joe

Johnny it will get better. Sometimes it's best to just walk away from the hobby for a bit. Just like when you crash a bird. When you first look at it, it's trash. Sit it on a shelf for a month, and you pull it down again, and you say to yourself "This isn't that bad I can fix it"

When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather did, in his sleep...... Not screaming like the passengers in his plane.

Thanks everyone. I pulled out my Slow Stick and just am enjoying flying it around the yard. Sometimes simple is better. I packed my scrach build project into a box for later.

Feeling good again, thanks for all the encouragement. I put together a E-Starter this week and everything went awesome. The only problem I had was the only servo wye harness I could find was about 18" long, so I just stuffed the extra wire in the front of the cabin area. It came out good, I deviated from the norm and put two HS-55 to drive the ailerons and made a little stronger wing struts. Hope to maiden her on Sunday if the Wind & Rain Gods are willing to cooperate.

Glad you are getting back into it. You are sooooo lucky that you didn't fall into a PURPLE FUNK !!!! They last forever. I am having an "off" few weeks. I'm flying OK, but not like I did before several crashes. Wanna fly but fingers shake like they did when I was learning to fly.

If you can even think about model planes, your troubles are manageable even though they may seem endless and awful. Often my life-long interest in model planes helps keep me going while dealing with our health, our adult children's problems, keeping cars and home appliances running, etc. and trying to prepare for old age at age 72+

Blimey - we're all at it !!

I have a gammy left foot that shoots pain when I put heal down ... doesn't want to bend at ankle ... I get chest pains 3 - 4x a week .... headaches that are worthy of a nuclear strike !
Doctor made all the tests and certifies me fit and well !

Car's failed technical inspection ... so big bill to fix that ...

For about 2 weeks now ... I just cannot keep my Heli's in one piece ... both crashed within minutes of each other ... having trouble landing my big biplane ... my ME109 is spiralling into ground everytime I try her ...

Yep - sometimes you wonder why !!

Just have to keep on trucking ...

Hope all gets better for you and Wife ...

Nope, I didn't know all that stuff. I just knew about the airplane, because one used to be based at Flyers' Field in Dallas back in 1957 when I first soloed. It was a funny-looking thing. Looked too fat and squatty to fly well, but I guess it did fly.

I ask my Boys if they wanted to learn how to play marbles. (I had just found a large sack of my old marbles) They looked at me like I had three heads and was breathing fire out my ears. So I showed them, and they found out it was really fun. My old Aggie shooter is just as good as it was in 1969. I had to keep my middle son from fudging all the time.
