I am amazed at the changes. Anyway, any books or other resources you recommend for an old nitro guy that wants to learn about electric? |

The best source is the internet and these forums. The electric side of the house is increasing exponentially and most books on the subject are outdated. Forums like this one are, in my opinion, far better than any book you can get. Just ask any question you may have and someone will be glad to help. This is an awesome community of folks who are always willing to help.
It's awesome you are getting back into it, especially with your Son. I started in this great hobby when my son was about the same age as yours. He made his first solo at the age of 9. He is 16 now and still an avid flyer. A bond we have made that I hope lasts a lifetime. Here is a pic of us from a few years back. He is taller than I am now! Welcome to WattFlyer! |

Many of us think electric is the way to go today.
No fuel or cleanup and fuel is so expensive now. With electric you can fly when gas cannot in many areas with reduced noise too. Look at the stickies here and ask away. Electric is a whole new world but it's not that hard to learn. 2.4 GHz is the way to go today and most use either Spectrum or Futaba and Li Poly batteries are light and allow you to put out a lot of power in the light planes most of us fly. If you are interested, I just picked up a Mini Telemaster ARF for around $75. And if you look under parts you will also find the pre covered wing with ailerons for another $30 or so so that makes a pretty good deal to start out again. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/mini_telemaster.htm Welcome back, I just got back into this again myself. |
