Default Aircraft Folding Stand dubbed the (XRC-Stand)

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would share my scratch build airplane stand. I researched a few out there, many being made of pvc pipe or iron bar etc. so I thought I would offer up build pictures of my folding wooden air plane stand I dub the XRC-Stand. Keep in mind this stand is not the most heavy duty thing around and not really intended for heavier planes. I haven't really tested what type of load this stand will handle nevertheless it does work fine with my E-Flite Apprentice see below and other scrachbuild planes and it's lovely in the field. The thing I find attractive about this stand is that it is small and lightweight and will take up minimal space in your hobby shop or car. Heck if you had many of these stands you could practically hang them all on the same nail, they’re that lightweight. The XRC-Stand is an ideal solution for the pilot that has many planes looking for an easy to build, cost effective, alternative airplane stand :o).

Here are the specifics of what is needed to complete the build. Additionally if you have all the peices and the tools the build time shouldn't be more than about 20 minutes.

(4) 1/8"D. 1-1/4"W. 19"L. Wooden Strips
(4) 1" cotter pins
(10) 1" Nylon Washers with 1/2" hole
(4) 3/4"W. 7-1/2"L. Polyurethane Pipe insulation strips
(2) 19" pieces of nylon string (none stretchable string recommend)
(1) 1/2"W. 21-1/2"L. Dowel rod

Tools required:

- Hand Saw
- Drill
- 1/2" Drill Bit
- 1/16 Drill Bit
- Hobby Knife
- Paint (optional) however recommended to reduce any warping observed over time.
