Default Big Wheels for PZ, E-flite Ultra Micros?

Fellow fliers,
Purpose: For rougher landing sites; i.e., tired of nosing over into the cracks after a (rare) perfect touch down.
Having gone through the Du-Bro catalog the minimum size axle I've found is 1.2mm, whereas the UM T-28 and other UMs have an axle diameter of +-.5mm. Horizon Hobby's site does not mention the axle diameter for most wheels, and surely none that are smaller than the abovementioned 1.2mm.
I've seen photos of our magnificent UMs with larger wheels/tires and what appear to be standard/stock UM axles.
What gives? What have you guys done besides eat prop on nose over or put 'em in the soft bushes or grass like I've done?
Thank you preemptively

I have seen mention made of, and actual modifications of landing gear/larger wheels on the "other" RC site, specific to the HZ UM Champ and the PZ UM J-3 Cub. These would be the only micro's IMHO that might benefit from larger wheels. If you haven't already done so, look here:

Champ thread:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1216910

UM J-3 thread:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1126425

Lot of material here, so you might just want to search for "wheels" while in these threads. Hope this is of help.

FWIW: I think the stock wheels on the Champ and J-3 Cub looks just fine, in scale with the models. I fly the UM Mustang and T-28 Trojan sans wheels.

Default The archive Hunt: 700 page Champ Tome

Thanks, Elfi, but they've no search function like at RCU, or am I missing something on their site? Anyway I looked at maybe six of the 700+ pages and decided I'd just maybe try rigging something with duct tape and bailing wire. I am a member at RC groups but have never posted. Name's Richard Bong, after our highest scoring ace.
But I tell you what: there's so much information in that thread it's a goldmine! There's gotta be a search feature, somewhere?

Default Dominating the World: Super Trojan (micro)

The wheel retainers popped right off, I slid the 1" Mini-Lite Wheels from Du-Bro right on the stock axles and "snap" the little black retainers snapped back on securely to create--Super Trojan.
Tiny pebbles no longer stop her! She's ready for Alaska and the great Brown Bears, to take on the crazed, power-hungry streets of Washington, D.C., and come back for more!
"file upload failed--file too large" Aaaarrgggghhhh! Back later with shrunken photo.

On UMX Beast and Beast "3D" (AS3X): the standard wheels are tiny on this true mighty beast, and as I have actual pebbles on my designated strip I can have none of that.

##NOTE: those fancy, flaired skirt/wheel retainers with the tiger/bear paws are THREADED for "easy" on-off.##

Installation of the Du=Bro 1" mini-lite wheels was easy once I figured out the wheel skirts which double as retainers are threaded. Yes, I found out the hard way and I thank the good Lord for foam-safe CA.
I'll post a picture after I shrink it to fit in this format.....
