Default suggestions on video camera for foamies?

I just watched a video that a guy took useing an aiptek HD video camera mounted on an Electricfly Stik. I would love to try and mount a video camera on my plane, but I don't have alot of money to spend. Does anyone know of some cheaper video cameras out there to use for this purpose? What is the best way to mount it to your plane? I fly foamie park flyers only. Thanks for any help!

Check the classifieds; there's a guy selling el-cheapo "keychain spy cameras" for $20. I picked one up. It's pretty good. I've found you need a solid mount though. If it has any wiggle room (i.e. velcro not that secure) the vibrations affect picture big time. So long as its strapped to the plane so it doesn't move its great. For $20 it can't be beat.

hum, that musta been my video i used that same set up before same plane, Anyways I just got one of the spycam keychain cameras from bob he a member on here , here the linkhttp://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53819

I love it got it yesterday and so far mounted it to my heli and tryed it out.
here the video
short test click it had some vibration but its a heli on a airplane it wouldnt do that , i am making a mount for my Sailplane right now. hope to have a video in few days if this 10-35 mph winds ever go away.

The guy above me musta got the cam I got... I am trying to figure out solid mount or let it have room to wiggle, guess he has found out you got to make it not move at all.

BTW the only bad thing is no way to veiw what you recorded and the led light is so tiny its hard to see if you have it mounted under ike i do on my heli. other then that its great

Thanks guys, can't beat that price! Does the camera just plug into your computer via USB cable? Just wondering Epowered, could you fly any higher with the camera on your Heli, or was the weight too much for you to get any more altitude?

yes it comes with a USB cord for your computor .

Sorry but I have to Laugh about your question about height.... The camera weighs a whole 15 grams... I was hovering in about 10mph wings gusting o about 18. i was only testing it. my heli has no clue its mounted onto itself.

I agree great price and deal. PM bob and get inline for one.

I have mine on my SS mounted under the boom. I wrapped some of those velcro straps around it and the boom to really secure it. Now that the vibrations don't wiggle it, video is pretty decent.

I think something like that, where you strap it to some part of your heli or plane is the way to go.

I have one of these, and I am very happy with it:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10973

It's a great price/size/weight/quality. It comes with some nice extras for mouting as well.
I have not had time to post videos yet, but there are some others on you-tube.

Made of 4mm Depron they are held down by the wing retaining bands so are easily removable and can face either way. The cameras are a snug push fit. Very light, yet secure.

Smile camera mount

I like the (spy gum camera) .About $25 ,I have mounted it on 6 of my planes so far. Side mount, bottom mount,NOSE mount pointed down a little works out the best if you use Something like a super lighting pusher, also got my best video with nose mount (be sure to strap it down tightly with rubber bands,so it won't vibrate. Anouther great plane is B.P.hobby FLY NOW 1200,so you won't have to shoot thru prop. Chased 4 Hawks with that plane a few days ago,Lots of fun. It's very easy to down load to your computer.I now have about 14 videos, soon hope to figure out how to transfer to U TUBE . OLD GRUMP

I have the mount but not secure I guess okay plane B...

the glider seems pretty good but little shake at one time.

pretty neat idea with the foam but I never have pratince to build something fit that good

I enjoy watching everyones videos, but I wish everyone would take a quick pickture of their planes before the video. Then we could see the creative ways ppl mount their cameras and get to see the cool planes as well. Just a thought.

If you have a quick mount system for the camera your video can include the plane!

Pretty neat but mine are not quick connects lol just 3 pop cycle sticks CA'ed together a screw in each end. rubberbads around the bottom of the wind to hold and the camera is rubberbanded to the pop cycle stick. Simple fast and didn't take much thought about it.
