Just ordered a Twirl kit from www.lightflite.com to add to the hangar ( 39 planes aren't enough ) and was wondering if anyone is flying one now. The designer has been flying his in 20MPH winds with no problems and I know whirlies like wind so am looking forward to the maiden.boomer |

Since the instructions are very good and using Al Foote's Pics for finished detail checking I didn't do a build thread. Made a couple of mods. Used flat carbon for tail skid and installed 2 carbon rod stiffiners on rear of fuse to stop the twisting. Only added a few grams but I'm happier with the result. Not sure how the wheels will stand up but can easily replace with Mpi wheels if they don't. Waiting on Azarr Micro antenna and Deans Micro connectors to finish plane. More later.............. Here are some pics of the plane. Comments welcome.

That's pretty cool. It reminds of me of the "Spin Doctor" as seen over on RCU and in Flying Models, albeit with some major differences......one of these days I'll have to try an autogyro.

Just put mine on, made of 3mm depron. Not to sure about the tail end but i have loomed some thread from wings to tail. It seems to have stiff'ned it up a bit. It will be carbon re-enforced Fuz on the next one.

I test flew that black and white Twirl before E-Fest, and it was too heavy and underpowered. Crashed into a wall and broke it pretty good. So I set out to build a very lightweight version for indoor flying, and use the black/white one for outdoors.
The one I built ended up just under 5 ounces total. |

I have about 25 or thirty,Airplanes ( most are electric ) I am so glad i took up R.C. about 60 yeaIrs ago.It keeps me Happy. The twirl is the first gyro so far but it won't be the last.It takes off in about 3 feet with a 2712-12 brushless from headsup rc . love the $2 shipping. A 20 amp esc 2 cell 800 lipo and a 10-6 prop. It also flys well in the wind.I am 78 now and had stroke,So i get around in an electric scooter. Get a twirl gyro and ENJOY. OLD GRUMP
