As for the struts, think I'll use them since hard points have been installed in the fuse for flights. Good luck on your maiden whenever the wind dies down! |

Well it flew... barely
![]() ![]() I got the packs all charged up and everything left great. Did a couple taxi runs last night and topped off the packs this afternoon before we went out. Got to the field and got her all set up, did a motor run up and all felt good. Taxied out for takeoff and just as I got airborne the motor started surging like the packs were dead! I was too high on climb out to set her back down safely so I had no choice but to go around and hope to clear the trees to the north of the field. I was able to that... barely. I never knew what it was like to see the shadow of my plane on the tops of the tress but now that I have I can tell you that I DOD NOT LIKE IT! I was able to nurse the throttle and get some altitude and get her back around for a safe landing. Brought it in and ran it back up and sure enough it was acting like it was hitting LVD. Threw the packs on the charger and it showed them at 27% voltage... ![]() I charged them back up to 100% all 5 cells reading 4.2v and put them back in the plane for a run up. 30 seconds into the run the motor starts surging again. Take the packs back out and they are at 48% already. Guess I 'll need some new batteries before going back out with it. Close call but all in all a good day, It's still in one piece.

And, have a Hacker A60-5S installed in my Cessna with a 10S2P A123 pack with either an 18X12 or 19X12 prop. That should be enough power. Any idea on what current your Rimfire motor was pulling? And, what size prop do you have on it. |
