Default Large Electric Set Up

I have a 85 cc Yak. 65 cc GP motor. 2 6s 6000 mah batteries and made a series connector from 10 awg wire for 12S 44.4 volts. Turnigy 160 amp ESC. Plane weighs about 24 lbs. First flight was yesterday and went well. Second flight I was making a low speed pass for photo op and heard a loud pop and lost power. Barely had enough altitude but the ESC was smoked, melted and blew the negative power input lead off. Any suggestion as to what I did wrong and what I should try next?

Jack,

I have the same setup. I posted a response to your other post over in the Aeroworks 85c Yak 54 Electric build thread.

As for me, I've actually been able to run my Castle Creations ESC's up to their rated maximum current level without overheating or other issues.

That said, running any ESC over its rated VOLTAGE level is an invitation to disaster.
