Default Turning gyro on/off in flight

and it gets more complicated...
I have an Art-Tech AT-EG301 head-lock gyro, that has the optional gain adjustment channel.
If I connect that to an ON/OFF switch channel on the transmitter, will that turn the gain from full (or whatever I adjust) to 0 (shutting it off)?
That gyro works in head-lock mode if gain is above 50% and standard mode if gain is below 50%.

I'm not really sure how those ON/OFF switches channels on the transmitter work and how the gyro would respond.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
