No video because I wasn't expecting to. I had my Apprentice at the "renegade" field with my friend (and a bunch of other flyers). Last week, I took off on one flight and landed on another. Thursday, I flew at the field I'm a member of with the trainer taking off and landing (lot of wind that day) and again, I flew circuits most of the time. Today, I took off, flew the circuit and did a lot of figure eights. When I got ready to land, without thinking, I told him I was going to bring it in. I overshot the runway a bit, but it was still on three wheels. Then I suddenly realized, I had soloed. Woo Hoo!!! Three more flights today with each landing better than the ones before. Of course, we had zero wind today. But I'll take it!

Congrats! My first flight was with an Apprentice as well. Great starter airplane! I took mine out yesterday after sitting for a bit. Still as fun as always!

Congrats on your solo, but don't let what happened to me happen to you. I was just going to have one, maybe two park foamies. Well, some 18 months later, my garage is full of everything from EDF jets to 3D balsa models...
On second thought, let exactly that happen to you! It's a blast!

If you are married your wife will take over the checkbook and credit cards, like Grant took Richmond (Sorry Bill). I remember the first plane I soloed. Sig Senior (In My Opinion, The Best Trainer Ever Designed. Thanks Claude) K&B .40 and a Hathkit Radio. The Heathkit Flight Pack weighed like 2 or more pounds. You could fit 8 to 10, HS-55 Servos into one of the Heathkit servos. Lots and lots of sticks in the. Senior.

Congrats on the solo MX5. I still remember the feeling 6 years down the track.
Expo and a computer radio are a great investment. When I upgraded to a 9X I found that having expo, model memories, digital trims plus all the rest was fantastic. |

MX5,
Having the programmable settings from a computer radio is great and makes a world of difference. If you ask which TX to get, you'll be opening up Pandora's Box. In fact, you'll get at least 10 different answers. Folks are passionate about their Tx/Rx combos. Personally, I'm a Futaba guy but truthfully, they are all good, whether it's Spektrum,JR,Hi-tec, Airtronics, Frysky, you name it. Get something you like and feels good in your hands. Whatever you get, you'll now have the progammability to make your flying experience better. Best of luck Hawk |
