Default Question on Gens Ace Bat

Are the Gens Ace battery balance plugs wired differant? The reason I ask, I have a Extreme Power Analyzer PA-010 which has a option to balance. Works on all my other batteries, but when I hook it up to my Gens Ace, same type plug, nothing happens on the screen just like I am not hooked up.
If I hook up my two prong connector into the Gens Ace Batt balance plug hooked to my multimeter every cell reads just right. I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated.

What are the other battery types?

There are 4 types of balance plugs but the JST-XH seems to be the most common. This link has a list of some of the more common batteries and the balance plugs they come with.

It is a JST-XH plug ,and the other batteries that it works on are ElectriFly, Common Sense RC. All have the JST-XH plug. The only differance I can see is the Gens Ace batts have differant colors of wire. One red and then three black. CSR batts have red white yellow black from battery to JST-XH connector. I will have to call Hobbypartz I guess and see what they have to say. Thanks anyway guys.

I just figured it out, Gens Ace wires coming to the JST-XH connector are in total reverse of CSR batts and others. I will have to pull all wires out, turn over plug and reinsert them.........geeeeeeeeeeeeeees I wish we had one standard set of plugs for everything, but I guess that won't happen. Its this way with everything.

That must be a fault, all JST-XH connectors should be wired the same way.

If you look at the plug from the side that has the two locating pegs then the red wire should be on the left.

Yep, it is a fault on whoever put them together. Here is a pic of CSRC's and the Gens Ace. Hope it is clear enough.

I use a ton of different size Gens Ace batteries and have no problems with the balance plugs.

I use a Passport Dynamite charger and a Thunder AC6 charger, both. Same chargers I use for my EFlite, Blue Lipo, Power Up, and NanoTech batteries (and whatever other brands I have lying about.)

As nearly as I can tell, my batteries match yours. But they also match all my other brands of batteries. All my LiPos have red on the right, though most of them have multi-colored wires, e.g. Red, White, Blue, Black as opposed to Red, Black, Black, Black.

I have a small voltage meter that I use at the field. It reads the Gens Ace batteries the same as the other ones.

I'm not sure what to call 'right' and what to call 'left', but here's a random assortment of four 3S lipos batteries pulled out of my flight box - a Gens, a Power Up, a Zippy and a stock Parkzone. I've made sure that the balance plugs are all oriented in the same way. It's consistently black, something, something, red.

Those batteries are wired just like the Gen Aces I have, so the CSRC batts are maybe ones that are wired backwards as you can see in my picture. Thanks Mark for your time. I gotta go to bed, daylight in 3 hours. Later

Common Sense batteries used to be wire backwards from others, a few friends of mine fried their battery meters because of that.

Yeah, sorry, my description wasnt the best Looking at the XH plug, plug in front of you with wires facing down and the locating pegs facing toward you; the red wire should be on the left.

That's the same as all of the batteries in your photo. Mike is right Common-Sense must wire their balance plugs reverse to anyone else. Kind of ironic that they do it that way given their name
