Default Dollar Tree foam PBY catalina seaplane

Today I started my next build it is a pby catalina made from dollar tree foam. So far I have a wing section cut out and the horizontal stab drawn and I am drawing out the fuselage and bulkheads. Hopefully in a couple of days I will have some parts pinned together for some pics.

Yeah this ought to be a fun one hopefully today or tomorrow I will get some pics I am also trying to make templates so I can have some plans. This project is harder than my flying wings but I think it will turn out good.

Here is a couple of pics of the build they just look like pieces of foam but I can see it taking shape. These pieces are the frame work inside and the side fuselage pieces and hull pieces ruff cuts all need sanded formed and put together. Lots of work still to come.

To get the curved sections to join, like the hull, it would easier with 6mm depron.

First round of sanding done on fuse and hull tail is drying waiting for its chance at the sanding block.

Nova,

Looks like it's starting to come together nicely. We just had our float fly this past weekend. I had a less than sucessful maiden of my scratchbuilt 6mm depron Convair Sea Dart. Very windy with a light chop on the lake and I drenched her on take off. Fried the esc.!"The "magic puff"

Note to self: "Despite what others tell you, take off on high rates !" No damage to the airframe but alot of damage to pride.

Keep us posted on your progress. I think you've got a winner there.
