Default Wheel advice sought

I am looking for an oddball type of wheel, but maybe someone has seen what I need.

My Fokker bipe has really nice 5-inch wire wheels, but they are skinny, fragile, and the rubber is really soft. The gear has literally no give, either.

Until I can guide her in nice and smooth I need a set of 'training' wheels, as close to 5 inches as possible, lots of soft rubber for a bit of suspension, but not too wide.

Not looking for really nice wheels as I fly off pavement and I'm going to tear them up a bit (another reason to have another set, I'll wear the nice ones out in no time flat).

Ask me why your DX5e is doomed... and how to fix it.

Yeah, looks like the trick will be finding something over 3 inches with a 5/32 (4mm) axle hole. Or, I'll have to stack up some tube stock to make up the difference.

Can't use a very wide wheel either, but there are some narrow ones there made for retracts that might fit the bill.

Fun cub wheels are 4.75 inches: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZWM1

Edit: Just saw that you fly off pavement, funcub tires are foam and reports are they don't do to well on pavement.

I don't mind a tire that won't last long if it works well... if it's cheap!

Some of the Dave Brown wheels on there look pretty close, axle diameter not listed though.

Williams Brothers Wheels

I suggust that you get the Vintage II
13340 5" Diameter * VINTAGE II
$26.29

Get some one to order them for you or find a dealer who stocks them maybe , they are vintage white and show the spokes which are covered .
When you read the decripation , the 1" wide is at the axle width , not , the tire width .

Tower Hobbies has them

Good Wheels

Thanks.
Those will make good tall-skinny-nice wheels when I want the correct look but don't want to beat up on the wire wheels. Need to make sure the current setup will let me mount an inch-wide at the axle.

Until I can figure out how to add some give to the gear I really want (need) some tires with a lot of depth, landing it nowe is like trying to guide in a superball.
