Default Flyzone Micro Albatros gearbox issue...

Was flying this Albatros, and it went for the ground. In doing so the gearbox shaft has a ton of slop in it now so it slips by the reduction gear, and just spins. There appears to be some sort of a retainer on the end of the shaft, but I can't move it forward to get rid of the play. Is there a trick to doing this, or should I just retire the plane to the mantle? It's a great flyer and I hate to see it just sit there...
