Here's a place that lists seven "Challenger " aircraft.
http://www.outerzone.co.uk/search/re...&Submit=Search I didn't see Mini Challenger though. Do you have a few more details on the plane? Approximate year designed or plans published? R/c, free flight or control line? Designer ? or kit manufacturer ? |

I looked through the outerzone gliders yesterday and saw some similar planes, but nothing extremely similar. Still a good place to find something worth building, as I've already built one plane from there and probably more. Maybe you can find something interesting there.
The plans for this plane just don't seem to show up anywhere. I'm guessing this plane may be like a number of kits, where they only released assembly plans, versus part detail plans. Companies think that it would keep them from being copied, where in reality it hurt the modeler. Any crash damage, and you couldn't repair the plane from the plans, as there were few or no parts detailed on it. The Astro version definitely goes a way back. I had one of those heavy Astro cobalt motors that I gave away in a Herr Cherokee. Today folks would cringe with the thought of using a cobalt motor and NiCd cells in a glider.

I may have a source for a plan of the mini Challenger, I built the big one and my buddy has a small one.
I will see him today and try to get a copy of his plan, The full size Challenger had a complete plan, so I would guess the mini does as well. |

I now have the plan for the Astro Mini Challenger, I will try to find out how I can copy it the best way.
I can also get a set of wing rib out lines. The outer panels have a curved leading edge, so all of the ribs in the outer panels are different from each other. The rest of the plane is very straight forward, simple construction, there would be no problem building from the plans. |

Thanks everyone. I've ordered the kit from http://brodak.com/spirit-of-yesterye...ectric-rc.html
Might take a few months to get to Australia but hey. It's a sentimental thing. I always wanted to build one and lost an original astro kit in a house fire a few years ago. I had seem them fly so well with old brushed motors and Nicads. Put in a brush-less, a light battery, feather weight receiver and servos and we will see what happens!
