So ... I'm thinking I need to:
Is this correct? It seems like I'll need to re-wire the red/+ lead if I need to rebind this plane. Is that right, or am I missing something somewhere? p.s. This SBEC is huge. Did I over-do it? |

Do not Judge, or you too will be Judged. For in the same way you Judge others, you will be Judged, and with the same measure you use, it will be measured to You.

[QUOTE=mclarkson;891583]I have a flying wing with periodic, weird shut-off behavior. This wing has a gyro and I decided the problem might have to do gyro+small, built-in BEC that so I picked up this Turnigy 5A SBEC at random.
So ... I'm thinking I need to:

Whoops. Thanks for catching my Rx/Tx typos there.
It's just that the plane itself is only using a little 10-12A ESC so this SBEC is 2-3 times its size and weight. (Not counting the ferrite core!) |

My thought process - ignorant though it may well be - was that there wasn't much point in getting a separate BEC that was only 2-3A, as the ESC itself already offers that. That's why I went with the 5A...

Note that the BEC doesn't NEED to go into the Batt/Bind socket....it can plug into any free socket on the receiver or even into a Y-lead in one of the sockets (I normally use throttle) and then you can remove the red lead from the arm of the Y-lead that the ESC plugs into rather than from the ESC itself.
That makes rebinding and perhaps reusing the ESC a lot simpler as you don't need to mess about so much with red wires. Steve |

Remove bind plug Of course Plug BEC into BATTERY/BIND port on Rx You can - but better just to plug into another spare position as power pins are common on all Rx's. Remove the Red/+ wire between the ESC and the Rx Correct. Connect ESC and BEC to battery plug Correct Nigel |

Wanted backup for the uBEC, so this model also has a Castle Creations 10 Amp uBEC. The attached JPG shows how this is wired up. |

The reason it's so heavy is that it's a high voltage BEC suitable for 10s liPos. This one would have been a better bet for a small model: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...V_5A_UBEC.html
