Default Flying Supercub w/o Gear

Hi guys,i recently fished out a HZ supercub out of the garage, but its landing gear is broken. I really want to fly it soon and test it out as i want to go brushless, but don want to buy anything until ive tested the cub. Is it hand launch-able? Would it be possible to stall it to the ground with the throttle cut to prevent damage to the prop?

Sure you can hand launch it. Remove completely the lg if you can to make the bottom reasonably smooth. A prop saver on the motor will save your prop but even if you don't have a prop saver you'll probably be ok as long as you have the throttle cut before you touch down. Here's an example of a prop saver--they're readily available.

I belly land a couple of my planes, and of course my wings never had a problem with props breaking. like it was mentioned just kill the power before you touch down and you will be good to go.

I fly in a grass field. None of my planes or gliders have landing gear.

I often fly my cub w/out gear and sometimes with, alot of it depends on the conditions of the ground. Snow ini parking lot for example or even wind shifts not allowing me to make a good aproach to my original take off/landing area. I also belly land my corsair with 0 problems to prop. I do not recommend belly landing if you have a 3 blade prop

Happy flying may your crashes be limited and if they are not limited let them be cool.

Hopefuly you turn the esc brake off when belly landing so the prop can spin out of the way or you will be buying more props very soon. joe

Aint that the truth. Glad I learned about ESC brakes from reading about them before finding out the hard way. Good reminder Joe
