Micro T-28 is capable of extended inverted.
The only real problem with the plane is its so small and light that you are limited in flying time by wind. Get into the DX6i and program in some expo. This is better than dual rates in my opinion. You can have very fine control near stick center and still have large throw available when you need it without flipping a switch. |

Good stuff.. if you try a roll make sure to get plenty of speed up and pull into a approx 30 deg climb before starting the roll. As it goes inverted give some down elevator to keep the nose up.
Once you get the hang then the initial climb probably wont be necessary but it's a good safety measure to start with. All three mistakes high, obviously. |

Thanks guys for the good advice! Expo and dual rates....can you explain to me in simple terms (for my simple mind!) what they do and why they are used? Does it have anything to do with servo speed and/or travel? What does mixing do? Im so used to basic radios that i really dont get it! Thanks!

Dual rates simply adjust the throw of the servos. You might for instance have a high rate set for aerobatics that gives 100% throw and another rate for gentle flying that reduces the throw to maybe 70% and so makes the control response let 'twitchy' (you can program any % on the DX6i for both rates)
Exponential is 'sort of' like a combination of low rate and high rate. When the stick is moved near it's centre position the control responds like on low rate sop good for gentle smooth flying, as the stick moves to the extremity of it's travel the rate gradually transforms into high rate so good for aerobatics. In technical terms it means that the control response instead of being linear (i.e. a straight line) is a exponential curve. About 25-35% exponential is usually a good start for small models. You can use both rates and exponential together, no problem. |

Expo is a computer function which alters the response rate differently at different stick positions.
************ Making this a general purpose post: you can have + or - expo. Futaba's definition of +/- is reverse of JR/Spektrum... some other radio makers follow JR/Spektrum others follow Futaba's definition. JR, + expo means LESS response near center and more as you move the stick further from center. This is what you want. This is Futaba's - expo. *************** With appx 30% (my recommended starting point) expo you move the stick about 1/4 of the way from center you should get about 1/8 of your full available travel. Move the stick all the way and you get full travel. With dual rate you assign a switch and program your maximum travel values for the switch positions. One position might be 50% and the other might be 120%. (some radios allow 3 position "dual" rates (triple rates) At the 50% dual rate if you move the stick 1/2 way you get 1/4 of normal available response. At full stick you get 1/2 of normal available response. DO NOT GO ABOVE 100% for the Parkzone Micros! you will over-range the servo and jam it. Standard and digital servos... many can accept up to 150% "ATV" (adjustable travel volume... the value you are changing with dual rates) Some can be damaged at 105%. You won't damage the Parkzone micros with excess travel they just get to a point beyond design travel and quit responding at all. If this happens turn off the receiver (unplug the battery from the airplane), access the servo (cut tape/decal to open the fuselage... scotch tape to close again. DO NOT PEEL the decals) and hand wind the gears to recenter the servo. It will be fine. ********** You can have both dual rate and expo at the same time. Some radios (not sure of DX6i) can have dual expos. I like dual expo you can have 30% expo on one setting and 70% on another... very fine control at center for high speed and still NO SWITCH NEEDED to get 100% travel. |
