Default use for those old puffed lipos? YES

I was think'in about those folk who after Storms and such need to charge their cell-phones, we in this hobby need not worry as long as there's old lipos to use and share, most folk has the makeings in their workshops and junk drawers, I made this one up in 5 Mins, Charged My Friends I-phone from 50% to 98% and barely dented the charge it had

Hmmm, pretty clever for those emergency power outages.
Thanks for the idea.

I'm guessing it would have to be a 3s in order to work with the 12V car power adapater?

i see bad things happening if you plug an old 6s battery in there

My wife and I use the same type phone, so we had 2 car chargers. I took one, and dissassembled the plug, and soldered a deans to the wires. So, I have a deans plug phone charger that I keep in my box... I'm amazed as to how many phones it charges as guys at the field have borrowed it in a low battery situation.

Then, add one of these, and you can bear out any storm!

3-cell of course, I lived on my sailboat for 12 years and only had 12-V to live with,, learned alot along the way, Phones and stuff draw next to nothing so the "C" rateing isn't important, a volts a volt from a nuke plant or a car Batt, Used to make Wind-Generators out of old car starters and big fan blades down in the Islands that kept my Lead-Acid batt's topped off, bubsteve

Except that the supply from your nuke plant will be AC and any battery is DC... which could have nasty implications if you overlook it.

That's a great idea. I've used 3s packs for various things when I needed 12 volts DC. I've powered up car stereos(generally only pull 10 amps max), charged phones/mp3 players, and checked guages and what not on the bikes. I've heard some people that use heated riding gear use them when they are off their bikes, or if they don't want to wire them in.

Someone made a charger at one point that plugs into your typical 3 cell pack to charge multiple single cell batteries for micros...brilliant idea.

Do not Judge, or you too will be Judged. For in the same way you Judge others, you will be Judged, and with the same measure you use, it will be measured to You.

I build them and deliver them all over from the Islands to Brazil, 40,000miles on multi-hulls 60,000 on Mono-hulls, I used to run Handheld VHF's on my old 12V field batt for my gas planes,, kinda sorta the same idea

As a boater as well ..... use of 12V is an art you have to learn ...

Puffed Lipo's ... main use I have for them is bench test batterys. Instead of uising yuour good flight battery - I keep old tired jobs for this. Most time you are only looking for motor turning right way, servos movement and centred etc. - takles no real power.

For Mobiles - never thought of that !

If you plan to keep old puffed lipos, I suggest you store them in a lipo sack or similar type fire proof container. The vary fact that they are puffed means they are damaged.

Doesn't mean they are going to burn or explode but it is still good practice to keep them stored properly. I have 4 of these sacks and use them often.
