I have a little Champ I am selling, but it does not have ailerons so despite its small size it does not turn all that tight.
That being said, from what I have seen, the park zone micros are hard to beat. And the P51 BNF is on sale now for 69 bucks. |

My mind goes to Parkzone/Hobbyzone ultra-micros, as well. The Champ is super slow and gentle. The warbirds ... less so.
A lot depends on your experience, your preferences and your weather. Ultra-micros are twitchier than larger planes. They also (generally) don't like the wind much. How about the ever popular T-28 Trojan? It's one of my own front yard fliers.

I have been looking at the Parkzone planes as well. I am leaning towards a 3D foamy as I think the Parkzone planes may be a bit fast for the space.

A Champ probably wouldn't be. It slows waaaay down. In zero winds, it's like flying a butterfly or a soap bubble.
But if you have winds like I do, you won't be able to fly it much. |

I don't have a lot if wind usually but I think I want to stick to a 4 channel so I can still do some aerobatics.

3D foamy is certainly an option. Consider something from EPP as they're virtually indestructible. You can't go wrong with something from twisted hobbies.
As I said, a lot depends on your preferences. What kind of front yard flying do you want to do? Toodling around in a circle? Pylon racing around your mailbox? Or prop-hanging? |

I love the twisted Hobbies planes - just too expensive for what I want. I am thinking I want something 3d capable 30" or less EPP foam in the $100 range.

Ok, I think k I got it....Fancy Foam 32" Yak55.
http://www.fancyfoam.com/index.php?m...ndex&cPath=3_5 The plane and electronics should come out to just under $100 which is where I wanted to stay. I have one of the Fancy Foam 42" Edge540 and love it so this should be good too. |

The plans for a small foamy like that yak can be found on RC groups and would cost at most $6-$10 in dollar store foam to build. Me and my dad are currently finishing up a dollar store foam f-22 hopeing to maiden it in the next day or two.

A recently released beauty is the Archer, being compared to the Trojan, this just under 37 inch span is highly compact, but unlike others nearly impossible to bend landing gear also due to its light weight. Tho flown in 15 mph is not a windy ship, does the very basic aileron roll, loops, simply a fun Sunday flyer as T O D A Y. Low passes, no blown landings as near zero winds this morning, it's impressive.
Chech out the horrible maiden landing, up again for a skim deadstick, it's fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXrj5...e_gdata_player And close look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YW-d...e_gdata_player |

Tnx, and zero damage due to design and light weight. Other models would be a scrap heap by now.
Can't stress enough on its durability, nice handling in the air and over 8 minute flights easy. Lot of pluses on this one, and mine is still alive! |

Of course, for about $50.00 you could build yourself a Dollar Tree profile pusher jet like an F-22. Very maneuverable, high alpha. Lands at your feet.
