Installing it on the Phantom was a super breeze. A HDMI cable from the GoPro right into the Fat Shark 5.8 tx, with power routed through the provided leads from DJI. Super easy, only one dab of velcro is all it took, which means its easy to remove and use on another airframe if I want. Like a kid in a candy store, I met the FedEx guy at the curb... bounding back into the house I knew what was inside the box.. 20 minutes later, I was taking off from the back yard, on a mission to patrol the 'hood. That was just the tease as I packed up the gear for the next morning at SEFSD. SUPER FUN... I really loved it. Very intuitive, and amazingly easy to fly, and you really get a great picture looking though the GoPro. Between the DJI Phantom, the Fat Shark and my carry case provided by GoProfessional Case, I think I have the perfect RC travel buddy. Flying, FPV and aerial photo in one case. SWEET. |

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Fat Shark Predator V2 set?

So how do you view the output of the camera?

Via the headset. There are two monitors inside that headset that are focused like looking through a Video camera shutter. The GoPro provides a superior picture quality over the mini camera that was included. You can see the plug coming from the side of the GoPro. As long as the camera is on, you get images regardless if you are recording or snapping photos

Nitro I know that with most FPV setups you need to run 2 different frequency, if I am saying this right. With the fat shark can you run 2.4 and they are on a different one, so no interference. this stuff gets a little confusing with all the different ways to set up FPV.

John,
Give yourself some credit! You got it exactly. The FatShark set is 5.8 gHz at 250mW. No interference, I lose video before I lose RC contact. When the video starts fading out, I know its time to turn around and head back. And the fact is that the video power is ample for the area we get to fly in. I can go to our borders without loss of video, so its plenty for here. If you were setting up to do long range, this set isn't strong enough. |

Gotcha this might not be a bad setup for me I wouldn't be into the long range FPV flying.
It would be fun to do around the club or other areas I fly at. Gonna have to save up for a Fat Shark for some FPV flying. |
